‘GTA Online’ Thanksgiving Event Promotes Football-Themed Game Modes Alongside Black Friday Sales On Various In-Game Items

Rockstar Games is celebrating the upcoming holiday with a week-long Thanksgiving event in Grand Theft Auto Online. The developer detailed today that the bonus event will give players the chance to earn double rewards for participating in certain GTA Online activities.

While many of the bonuses will be active throughout the next week, Rockstar is giving players one day only to receive twice the normal amounts of RP and cash for taking part in a handful of specially selected Adversary Modes in Grand Theft Auto Online. For these missions, the bonus rewards will be live on Thanksgiving Day only.

Keeping with the traditions of the holiday, the one-day event bonuses will affect select football-themed modes within GTA Online such as the Running Back and Inch by Inch Adversary Modes. The event also marks the one year anniversary of the Running Back mission as the vehicle-based football mode was first introduced to fans last Thanksgiving.

“In the spirit and tradition of American Football this Thanksgiving week, we present a new mode entitled ‘Running Back’. Two teams square off from opposing sides of a roadway. The elusive Runner, behind the wheel of a Benefactor Panto, must go the distance and get across the end zone line at the far end of the highway with the help of their offensive teammates in BF Biftas. Meanwhile, their defensive-minded opponents (also in Biftas) must ruthlessly block, crash and pummel their way to try to stop them.”

In addition to the planned holiday events, Rockstar Games is also honoring another popular annual tradition by hosting a special Black Friday sale on various Grand Theft Auto Online items ranging from vehicles, customization options, clothing, and weapons. The sale even includes discounts on all of the recently released road leathers that were released alongside the Bikers update.

While GTA Online fans can enjoy limited rewards on Thanksgiving Day, gamers will also be able to receive double RP and cash for the next week for participating in the new Kill Quota Adversary Mode. Kill Quota launched this week just in time for the upcoming holiday weekend and equips all players with one of four predesignated weapon loadouts.

“It’s murder-by-numbers in Kill Quota, the newest team-based GTA Online Adversary Mode for up to 16 players across 2-4 teams. Starting off with a high-powered weapon from one of four distinct loadout options, each team must hit the designated body count before advancing to a more challenging and less powerful armament, culminating with a final, one-hit-kill melee round. The first team to successfully cycle through all six weapons in a match (or have the highest count at the end of the time limit) wins.”

The new High Flier premium race will also reward participants with triple RP for the next week. The race features a series of stunt jumps atop the high-rise buildings of downtown Los Santos. From now through November 28, those who place in the top three positions during any High Flier race will also earn additional cash awards in GTA Online.

Continuing to give players new content, Grand Theft Auto V users can also now own the Bravado Youga Classic van. The Youga features a retro design meant to appeal to any beach going crowd.

As the popularity of GTA Online doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, Rockstar Games has taken additional steps to help rid the game of cheaters. A previous report from the Inquisitr last month detailed the developer’s new ban policy which has been altered to be more punishing towards offenders.
