Efficient Favre Leads Vikings Over Cleveland’s Quinn And Company

Cleveland, OH (AHN) – Brady Quinn was only seven when Brett Favre joined the NFL in 1991.
But Quinn and company watched a robust 39-year-old complete 14 of 21 passes for 110 yards as the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-20 Sunday.
Running back Adrian Peterson shined as well. On 25 carries, Peterson amassed 180 yards and connected for three touchdowns. Peterson’s 64-yarder in the last quarter gave the Vikings a lead of 34-13.
Quinn completed 21-of-35 passes for a total of 205 yards with one touchdown and an interception after the ball appeared to slip out of his hands and fall behind him. Phil Dawson’s 37-yard field goal in the first quarter put the Browns on the board.
Joshua Cribbs scored on a 67-yard punt return and Dawson’s kick gave the Browns a 13-10 lead.
Favre and the Vikings owned the second half, however, with a ball-control offense. Minnesota’s 82-yard drive in the third quarter ate up seven minutes off the clock and resulted in a score of 24-13, capped by Percy Harvin’s six-yard touchdown catch.
A three-minute drive in the fourth quarter made it 27-13 Vikings as Ryan Longwell tacked on a 37-yard field goal. Peterson’s 64-yard touchdown added more cushioning for the Vikings in the last frame.
It was Favre’s 270th consecutive start.
