Broadcasting Christmas is a new movie airing on the Hallmark Channel this Wednesday night. In harmony with Hallmark’s “Countdown to Christmas,” a five-night Thanksgiving movie event has been added to the programming.

Broadcasting Christmas is the first of the five movies airing over the next several days. Directed by Peter Sullivan and written by Topher Payne and Michael Varrati, Broadcasting Christmas is about two ex lovers vying for one spot on the local morning show. According to USA Today, it stars Dean Cain, Melissa Joan Hart, and Jackee Harry.

Synopsis for the Movie: Broadcasting Christmas on the Hallmark Channel

Charlie Fisher and Emily Morgan are both vying for the job as the new co-host of a new morning show. The winner will earn a coveted position next to Veronika Daniels, the morning show host.

Charlie and Emily have a bit of history. They used to be in love at one time and worked at the same station back home. Charlie Fisher got a promotion, which relocated him to the Big Apple. Now, Emily Morgan, who still resides in a small town, wants the chance to take her career in another direction. However, Charlie appears to be the likely winner since he has good connections in the industry, namely the same producer who worked with both him and Emily at a station back home.

But when Emily, who is known for her compelling human-interest stories, makes a plea on national television for a chance to be in the running for the job, she finds herself at odds with Charlie.

Now that Emily and Charlie have reconnected, they find themselves bickering over stories and reminiscing about old times. Meanwhile, Veronika finds the stiff competition between these two old lovers healthy and a joy to watch.

Picking the final co-host won’t be an easy spot to fill, and Emily and Charlie’s blossoming love complicates matters even further. Will the decision make Charlie and Emily’s season bright, or will the final choice tear them apart forever?
