Selena Gomez Receives Sweet Message From Niall Horan On Twitter
Selena Gomez and Niall Horan came face-to-face during Sunday’s 2016 American Music Awards and afterwards, the One Direction singer posted a sweet message to Gomez on his Twitter page.
About one year after Selena Gomez and Niall Horan faced rumors of a possible romance, Horan took to his Twitter page to applaud Gomez for her heartfelt speech at Sunday’s event, which marked her first post-rehab appearance.
“Just watching the show back from last night. Really great show. Loved it. Love to [Selena Gomez] for the speech, brave young woman,” he wrote on November 21.
During Sunday’s show, Selena Gomez and Niall Horan were spotted together in the audience and shared a warm embrace as fans looked on.

After Selena Gomez and Niall Horan were spotted together, an E! News report claimed Horan had approached Gomez on the way back to his seat from backstage and after giving her a hug, he reportedly told her, “You did so good!” As the outlet explained, Horan’s comment was in reference to Selena Gomez’s acceptance speech for her Best Female Artist Pop/Rock award.
“I had to stop because I had everything, and I was absolutely broken inside,” Selena Gomez told fans during her emotional speech, via Hollywood Life. “I… I kept it all together enough where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together, to where I let myself down… I’m not trying to get validation, nor do I need it anymore.”
Selena Gomez and Niall Horan were linked to one another last December after they allegedly indulged in some major PDA during the 35th birthday celebration for actress Jenna Dewan at Bootsy Bellows in Los Angeles.
“Niall and [Selena Gomez] were seen kissing in the middle of the club, in front of everyone,” an eyewitness confirmed to Us Weekly at the time.
“Niall and [Selena Gomez] definitely seemed very close and like they were together,” a second insider said. “Niall got there first with his bodyguard, then the next thing I know, I looked over and Selena was there. They were very close together, talking and whispering.”
The insider also revealed that Selena Gomez and Niall Horan allegedly left the event together. Then, hours later, Horan took to Twitter where he shared a photo of himself, Selena Gomez and several other friends. In the caption of the photo, which featured Horan posing with his hand on Selena Gomez’s shoulder, he wrote, “LA squad.”
Prior to their alleged PDA at Dewan’s party, Selena Gomez and Niall Horan were photographed having dinner with friends, which quickly led to rumors claiming they may be dating.
Selena Gomez and Niall Horan continued to be linked to one another for weeks, but by February Gomez had confirmed she was single.
As for why the rumored couple reportedly parted ways, a source claimed Gomez simply didn’t want to be involved in a serious relationship with Horan.
“The reason why everything cooled was because [Selena Gomez] didn’t want to take anything further,” an insider revealed to Hollywood Life earlier this year. “Niall really was happy when they hooked up but now realizes it was a drunk hookup night that didn’t do anything more because Selena didn’t want it.”
“He would have liked it to have been something, but now that time has passed he realizes a relationship with [Selena Gomez] will never happen, and being her friend is an ok landing spot. He is not heartbroken, just disappointed that it never had the chance to be more,” the source added.
