Ariana Grande Gets Raunchy At The 2016 AMAs With Her Grandmother In The Audience
Ariana Grande let out her inner “Dangerous Woman” at the 2016 American Music Awards on Sunday night (Nov. 20). The pint-sized singer stepped out on the red carpet before her raunchy performance with Nicki Minaj later that night.
The former Nickelodeon star even wore a saucy outfit earlier on in the evening. Grande wore white McQueen trousers with a black lace vintage crop top, according to People. Grande also revealed that she received a surprise visit from her grandmother when she arrived at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
“My Nonna just surprised me in my dressing room!” Grande squealed. “I posted on Instagram that I missed her. She was my date last year — 10 minutes later she walked into my door. How sweet is that?!”
Earlier that night, Grande shared a throwback photo of herself with her grandmother at last year’s showing, writing, “queen of #AMAs!!!! thinking of you today & missing you. see you soon QM.”
Grande then followed up with another photo, including the caption, “omg………. this queen just walked right in ten minutes after my last post to surprise me. my heart. I love you.”
Later that night, Grande performed “Side to Side” alongside frequent collaborator Nicki Minaj. On the red carpet, she exclaimed her exciting about performing with her friend again.
“I love Nicki,” she said. “This is our third song that we’ve done together, and it’s one of my favorites on the album. She’s just a really good friend to me. We make a lot of good songs together.”
The ladies got down for a raunchy performance of their hit song at last night’s AMA, even with her grandmother watching backstage. Grande and Minaj grinded on each other and on their bikini-clad and shirtless backup dancers. In the jungle-themed performance, Grande got on all fours as she slithered across the stage in a camouflage print dress, fishnet stockings, thigh-high suede boots, and her signature high ponytail, as reported via the Daily Mail. She quickly became the center of attention when she shook her hips and hit each note.
Halfway into the performance, Grande’s collaborator, Minaj, stepped out onto the stage. She was unveiled behind a group of backup dancers, who twerked and grinded as she sat in a wicker chair in a blue printed bra and matching booty shorts and thigh-high boots. She shocked the crowd when she spread her legs and touched herself during the song.
Grande and Minaj were then seen grinding away as they were sandwiched between their backup dancers. At the end of the performance, Grande and Minaj hugged each other, looking pleased with their sexy show.
It was a big night for Grande who won Artist Of The Year. The awards were given to those with the most photos. Grande didn’t forget to thank her fans for their support for her latest album, Dangerous Woman, which spawned the previous hit songs “Into You” and “Dangerous Woman.”
“I saw my fans voting their a*** off online and I appreciate them so much,” she later told E!’s Jason Kennedy on the awards show red carpet. “I love them so much from the bottom of my heart no matter what. I appreciate all of that, but at the same time I don’t need an award to let me know how much they love me.”
This isn’t the first time Grande has won at the American Music Awards. Back in 2015, she was awarded Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, and received the award New Artist Of The Year in 2013.
