‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ Cynthia Bailey On Dating After Divorce With Peter Thomas, Feeling Like A ‘Failure,’ Post Split

Real Housewives of Atlanta star Cynthia Bailey revealed that she felt like a “failure” after her marriage with Peter Thomas did not work out. While she still loves Peter, Cynthia shared that she reached her personal breaking point and decided to file for divorce. Is the RHOA star ready to jump back into the dating pool?

Cynthia Bailey told The Daily Dish that she cannot pinpoint the exact moment she realized that her marriage is just not working out. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star explained that the feeling that something was just not right has always haunted her.

“There’s always that unrest inside of you that feels like, ‘Hmmm, I wonder if this is for me.’ It’s hard,” she said.

Even though she might have seen it coming, splitting with Peter Thomas, her husband of six years, has not been easy. Cynthia admitted that she felt like a “failure” for not making things work.

“You kind of feel like a failure because it didn’t work out. And then you feel like you have to be strong, but some days you don’t really feel like it. Some days, you’re just like, ‘Look, it is what it is.'”

Even if she had a difficult time dealing with the divorce, Cynthia revealed that she also felt relieved. The reality star explained that she and Peter were having some issues for a while and now that they have both decided to move on, it felt like a major weight has been lifted. Cynthia, however, clarified that she’s still on good terms with her soon-to-be ex-husband. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star also claimed that this would not turn into one of those ugly divorce stories people are used to seeing on reality TV.

“I think just because I’m pretty peaceful in my decision, I knew that I just would get through it. I knew that I didn’t want it to be this ugly, drag-Peter-through-the-mud-divorce-type situation. I’ve seen it happen time and time again on TV amongst reality stars and just regular people. I didn’t want to do that,” she explained.

Although their marriage ended in divorce, Cynthia still wanted Peter to be part of her and her daughter’s future. She shared that Peter and Noelle had a great relationship, ever since he came into their lives nine years ago.

The reality star admitted that having a healthy relationship with Peter has been quite difficult. In spite of it, Cynthia shared that she is determined to keep him in her life because she still cares for him. Cynthia added that with the divorce, she did not only lose a husband, but also a friend.

Early this month, Cynthia Bailey told Us Weekly that she never considers herself wife material. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star explained that while she loved Peter, she just “could not give up Cynthia Bailey to be Cynthia Bailey Thomas.” She also claimed that she will never marry again, a statement she clarified to The Daily Dish.

“I think my point with that was not so much I’m not gonna get married again, because I really don’t know what the future holds for me. I just know that I don’t want to go through a divorce again. It’s just been really heavy.”

When asked if she’s seeing anyone at the moment, Cynthia shared that she’s not ready to date for now, not only because her divorce has yet to be official, but also because she needs some time for herself. The RHOA star added that when she eventually starts dating, it may not end up being a serious relationship.

“I’m not saying I’m gonna be a player or anything, but I’m looking forward to being single and just having some Cynthia time.”
