NFL Score: Dallas Cowboys Defeat Baltimore Ravens To Extend Win Streak

With Tony Romo conceding the starting quarterback spot for the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott now has free rein to run the hottest team in the NFL. On Sunday, they went up against the Baltimore Ravens. Their eight game winning streak was extended to nine when all was said and done. The Cowboys defeated the Ravens by a score of 27-17, as reported by ESPN.

The Dallas Cowboys were one of the most dominant teams in the NFL when Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin were wearing the star. However, that trio never won nine games in a row. That makes it even more impressive that a team led by two rookies were able to accomplish that feat on Sunday. Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott led the Cowboys to their ninth straight win in a row. The streak might even continue as the season is not over yet.

More impressively, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott managed to pick up a victory against the top-ranked defense in the NFL in the Baltimore Ravens. The former Super Bowl champions came into the game with the best run defense, and the Dallas Cowboys offensive line managed to look as dominant as they have all season long.

The game against the Baltimore Ravens marked the first time this season that Tony Romo has been active. The Dallas Cowboys were hoping that his number did not need to be called because that would have created even more controversy than there already is. Had Dak Prescott struggled or been injured, then Cowboys fans would have been asking for Romo to enter the game. That would have complicated the situation so much more.

There was a bit of a tense moment during the game where Dak Prescott appeared injured. Dallas Cowboys medical personnel went on the field to check on the fourth round draft pick. Cameras caught Tony Romo looking very intently into the situation, as it was an opportunity to possibly regain his starting job. Prescott was able to get back up and continue the game, so Romo had to stay on the sidelines.

Interestingly, the Baltimore Ravens have never lost to the Dallas Cowboys in the history of their franchise. The two teams have played five games prior to Sunday afternoon.

Another record that was achieved during the game was when Steve Smith finally broke the 1,000 career reception mark. The veteran wide receiver never believed that he would accomplish that in the NFL.

Ezekiel Elliott also placed himself in the history books. Even though there are five games left in the regular season, the former Ohio State Buckeyes star has more yards than any other Dallas Cowboys rookie running back. He toppled the mark set by Tony Dorsett, who is considered one of the best players in the history of the NFL.

Dak Prescott solidified his position as the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys yet again by throwing for more than 300 yards. The former Mississippi State Bulldogs star also had three touchdowns. That makes it harder for head coach Jason Garrett to make a change and go back to Tony Romo.

Despite having a 5-5 record, the Baltimore Ravens are sitting on top of the AFC North. They barely hold a lead over the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have the same record.

The Dallas Cowboys are still on top of the NFC East. The 7-3 New York Giants are hot on their heels, but with the momentum that the Cowboys have, it will be hard to envision them overtaking their longtime rival.
