Rory McIlroy To Sign $250 Million Nike Deal? Golfer Plays Coy About New Endorsement

Rory McIlroy is going to sign a $250 million sponsorship deal with Nike. Well, that’s the rumor.

CBS reports that the 23-year-old golfer’s current contracts with Titleist/Footjoy will be over at the end of this year and that Nike is getting ready to sign him. The reported deal is worth $250 million and would put McIlroy in Nike clothes and playing with Nike equipment for the next 10 years.

McIlroy addressed the rumors today saying that he his agent Cory Ridge does most of the worrying about contracts and endorsements.

McIlroy said:

“These rumors have been going around for years and it seems to always come up at this time of the year … I leave it up to Conor to sort out as it leaves me to concentrate on my golf.”

According to Bleacher Report, McIlroy is currently the No. 1 golfer in the world. He’s won six titles, including two majors, and has pocketed over $13 million in winnings from the PGA tour. McIlroy is also a fan favorite, has a high-profile girlfriend (tennis star Caroline Wozniacki) and is only 23-years-old.

Nike is still paying Tiger Woods approximately $30 million annually but McIlroy is clearly the next big thing.

Do you think Rory McIlroy will sign with Nike for next year?
