Will The Shield Reunite At ‘Survivor Series’? Seth Rollins Says He’s Not Opposed To The Idea

In the weeks leading up to this Sunday’s Survivor Series show, there have been a ton of rumors surrounding a possible reunion of the popular three-man faction, The Shield.

For the first time since the faction split in two years ago, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins are all top babyfaces, and they’ll all be competing in the same match at Survivor Series, although they’ll be on opposite sides, as Reigns and Rollins will be on the Raw team, while Ambrose will be on the SmackDown team.

Several weeks ago on Raw, WWE had a bit of reunion with Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, and the live crowd went absolutely crazy for it. The two haven’t been on the same page since the faction broke up, and we know that they’ll be on the same page on Sunday night. But, will all three men be on the same page on Sunday? We’ll have to wait and see, but in a recent interview during WWE’s trip to Glasgow, Scotland, Rollins said that he’s not opposed to the idea.

“There’s always room to mend broken hearts, I suppose. You never know. With Ambrose over on SmackDown, and Roman and I being on Raw, the ‘reunion reunion’ can’t happen anytime soon. If we have to play ball on the same side at Survivor Series to get the job done, then that’s the way it has to be. But I’m not opposed to the idea.”

Rollins also commented on whether or not he’d be interested in fully reuniting the group at some point in the future if all three men are a part of the same brand.

“Down the road, if the time is right, and it feels good, you know, maybe I’ll strap the vest on again. We’ll see what happens.”

Rumors of The Shield getting back together have been making the rounds for about a year now, and they never turn out to be true. So, history says that the rumors surrounding a possible reunion on Sunday will turn out to not be true, but, you never know.

While the rumors may be untrue, WWE will probably plan a spot in the match where all three men are in the ring together at the same time because that could possibly lead to the biggest response of the night. However, a full-on reunion seems unlikely, simply because they’re not all on the same brand. Of course, WWE could alter the rosters and move one or two top guys over to SmackDown, while Dean Ambrose gets brought over to Raw. But, again, that seems unlikely.

While a full-on Shield reunion seems unlikely, the Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins alliance will probably continue throughout the rest of the year, as they’re booked to take on their two biggest rivals — Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens — in singles matches (Reigns vs. Owens, and Rollins vs. Jericho) at next month’s Roadblock show.

The Seth Rollins vs. Triple H feud, which is scheduled to culminate in a match at WrestleMania 33 in April, will probably pick up right where it left off following the December pay-per-view.

What’s next for Roman Reigns after Survivor Series? Well, as previously mentioned, he’s scheduled to take on Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship on December 18. So, he could very well end up being the champion of the Raw brand by the end of this year.

Dean Ambrose is the number one contender for AJ Styles’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and he’s scheduled to wrestle “The Phenomenal One” at next month’s TLC show. So he, like Roman Reigns, could be the top man on his brand by the end of the year.
