The J.Lo Effect: Jennifer Lopez’s Kiss Did Not Ruin Marc Anthony’s Marriage

Both fans and the media have been pointing the finger at Jennifer Lopez ever since the news of Marc Anthony’s split from wife Shannon De Lima. The couple decided to go their separate ways after two years of marriage. The news comes after Jennifer and Marc kissed each other onstage during a performance.

Don’t think this means Lopez and Anthony are getting back together. The pair got married back in 2004 and divorced in 2014. Lopez previously told W magazine this past summer that she knew their marriage wasn’t ideal, even if they seemed like the perfect couple at the time.

“I hung in there for seven years,” she said.

“I knew very quickly that it wasn’t the right thing. When my marriage ended, it was not easy to find forgiveness. It wasn’t the dream that I had hoped for, and it would have been easier to fan the flames of resentment, disappointment, and anger. But Marc is the father of my children, and that’s never going away. So, I have to work to make things right. And that is, by far, the hardest work I do.”

Lopez and Anthony have been actively co-parenting son Max and daughter Emme for years after their divorce, according to E! News. The friendly exes have been spotted spending birthdays, holidays, and other family occasions together. Of course, speculating reignited when Anthony and de Lima separated, and the Latin crooner was spotted kissing Lopez on stage. Anthony and de Lima looked happy in Anthony’s Instagram post from Sept. 16, when she called him the best husband and friend she could ever have.

Meanwhile, Lopez is recently single, as well. She just ended her relationship with on-and-off boyfriend Casper Smart over the summer. An inside source told E! News that this does not mean Anthony and Lopez are getting back together. It also means that Lopez was not the cause of Anthony’s split from de Lima.

“Not at all,” the source further confirmed.

Anthony and Lopez just happen to be friendly co-parents and co-workers. They collaborated in 2012, just months after their split, on the short-lived talent competition show Q’Viva! The Chosen, where they were seen not getting along with each other most of the time. Anthony recently signed on to executive produce Lopez’s all-Spanish album just last month.

The news of his split from de Lima comes after Anthony was spotted without his wedding ring at the Latin GRAMMYs, where Lopez gave him a friendly kiss onstage after performing together.

Another source told Entertainment Tonight that “Jennifer and Marc are not getting back together, no matter what it looks like.

“That kiss onstage was totally innocent and egged on by the crowd,” adds the source.

“Nothing there, nothing.”

Prior to her split from Casper Smart back in August, Lopez posed with Anthony and her then-boyfriend backstage at her Vegas show. Later that night, she gave her ex-husband a shout-out during her performance and acknowledged his presence in the audience. He was also touched when Lopez performed one of her ballads and talked about their children as photos flashed onscreen.

“You’re an international legend and icon, but you’re also my baby daddy,” Lopez joked as Anthony stood up and bowed.

Anthony has been downplaying the rumors by posting a series of photos of him kissing other people inside an airplane on Instagram. He also included the hashtag #whatsyourbeso.

Meanwhile, Lopez has kept mum about the rumors. She was also seen taking photos inside an airplane, but she wasn’t seen kissing other people. In fact, Lopez decided to share this selfie of herself looking perfect, as usual.
