‘Outlander’ Star Sam Heughan Opens Up About His Love Life And Mackenzie Mauzy

Sam Heughan’s secret love life has been a hot topic with Outlander fans for years. Although many hoped Heughan would eventually hook up with his Outlander co-star Caitriona Balfe, the actor recently stepped out with Mackenzie Mauzy.

What did Heughan have to say about his new romance?

According to iTech Post, Heughan attended the 2016 BAFTA awards in Scotland with Mauzy and the two appeared more than comfortable in each other’s arms. Heughan escorted Mauzy to the event and wasn’t afraid to show off his feelings for the actress.

The couple has yet to announce their relationship, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speaking out on social media. Hall of Fame Magazine reports that Heughan was forced to come to Mauzy’s defense as fans shamed and bullied her online.

“Please stop this. Spread this bile and pettiness elsewhere. NO-ONE deserves to be treated this way. I’m disgusted and shameful,” Heughan told fans. “Shameful behavior by many on social media recently. It’s disgusting and needs to stop. Spineless bullying. Stop. Now.”

The social media bashing took place after Mauzy shared a picture of the Scottish Highlands on Instagram. Based on Heughan’s response, there is a good chance that he is dating the Into the Woods star. Not to mention that Heughan has a thing for gorgeous blondes.

Prior to dating Heughan, Mauzy married John Arthur Greene. Following their divorce, the actress hooked up with Billy Magnussen. It isn’t known how long she has been seeing the Outlander star.

One reason why so many fans were upset with Mauzy is because they wanted to see Heughan get together with Balfe. According to Hall of Fame Magazine, rumors about an off-screen romance between the Outlander stars have circulated ever since Season 1.

Despite the hopes of many fans, Heughan and Balfe have debunked the rumors on several occasions, admitting that they are only “good friends.” Unfortunately, neither of them have divulged much about their romantic lives, though Heughan did share one funny story about a teenage crush.

The actor revealed that he once had a terrible crush on a girl and planned to win her over during Valentine’s Day. To accomplish this, Heughan purchased glasses, wine, and a bunch of flowers and brought them to the lucky girl’s home.

Sadly, nobody was home when Heughan stopped by and he ended up leaving the gifts on the front porch. The Outlander star got a call the following day asking him to leave the young girl alone and stop stalking her. Apparently, the girl took Heughan’s advances the wrong way and thought he was a creeper.

When it comes to his character on the hit show, Sam Heughan admitted that he shares some characteristics with the Scottish hunk. Although he thinks of himself as a “forward thinking” man, he believes that Jamie is a little more “masculine” due to the fact that he is a “man of this time period.”

Speaking of the show, News Everyday is reporting that Season 3 of Outlander will be completely different from previous years. Not only will Jamie and Claire experience a significant time jump, but a few major characters will be introduced, along with a new setting.

Season 3, which is based on Diana Gabaldon’s third novel Voyager, follows Claire and Jamie as they live separate lives centuries apart following the Battle of Culloden. The time traveling couple will eventually reunite after Claire learns that Jamie survived the historic battle, but not before some new faces are introduced.

This includes the likes of Young Jamie Murray, played by Conor McCarry. In the novels, Young Jamie goes on an adventure with his brother, Young Ian (John Bell). This season will take fans to faraway places like Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Hannah James and Tanya Reynolds are also joining the show as Geneva and Isobel. Geneva is a beautiful young girl who is difficult to handle and spoiled, while Isobel is both compassionate and kind.

While fans still have a ways to go until Outlander returns, Daily Record reveals that Heughan and Balfe are up for nominations at the Critic’s Choice Awards. Heughan was nominated for Best Drama Actor for his part as Jamie Fraser while Balfe was selected for Best Drama Actress for her role as Claire Randall.

The award ceremony is not scheduled to air until December 11, so there’s no telling if Heughan and Balfe will walk away winners. They both have some pretty stiff competition. Heughan is up against Bob Odenkirk, Rami Maleck, Kevin Spacey, Liev Schreiber, and Matthew Rhys. Balfe is facing off against Tatiana Maslany, Viola Davis, Evan Rachel Wood, Robin Wright, and Keri Russell.

Balfe won a People’s Choice Award earlier this year while Heughan walked away with the TV Scoop Award and the Anglophile Channel Awards.

Season 3 of Outlander is expected to premiere sometime in early 2017 on Starz.
