NBA Score: Memphis Grizzlies Shock Los Angeles Clippers With Their Second Loss Of Season

Any time an NBA team picks up a victory, it is special moment. It is even better when you beat a team that many consider to be the current best in the league. On Wednesday, the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Los Angeles Clippers by a score of 111-107, as reported by ESPN.

Earlier this summer, when Mike Conley became the highest paid player in the history of the NBA, many knew that expectations would be raised. Against the Los Angeles Clippers, he played like someone that deserved that money. Conley made seven out of the nine shots that he took from the outside, which enabled him to put up 30 points. The former Ohio State Buckeyes star also had five rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.

Marc Gasol played like the All-Star center that he is. The Spaniard put up 26 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Gasol also made four of the five shots that he took from beyond the three-point line. The 7-foot-1 center has never been a great outside shooter, but he has added to his offensive arsenal of weapons this season. Gasol has been given the freedom to shoot at least four shots from the deep perimeter this season.

Chandler Parsons only played 14 minutes in the game, but that was by design. The Memphis Grizzlies knew that he needed time to recover from his injuries when they convinced him to leave the Dallas Mavericks in free agency this past summer. The 6-foot-1o forward should see his minutes increase later on in the season when he is fully recovered.

The Memphis Grizzlies have the luxury of having two veterans on the bench that have been franchise players before. Vince Carter and Zach Randolph combined for 30 points with the second unit. That helped tremendously in beating the Los Angeles Clippers.

JJ Redick decided to explode against the Memphis Grizzlies. He took more shots than any of his teammates, and it paid dividends. The veteran shooting guard nailed seven of the 12 shots that he took from beyond the three-point line. That ended up producing 29 points for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Chris Paul struggled from the field, making just three of the 11 shots that he attempted. He was only able to add nine points, but the All-Star guard still managed to contribute with six assists and an astounding five steals.

Jamal Crawford, the former NBA Sixth Man of the Year, has provided a spark off the bench for the Los Angeles Clippers as of late. He continued that streak against the Memphis Grizzlies. In 27 minutes of playing time, the veteran guard provided 15 points and three assists. Of course, that was not enough to knock off the Grizzlies. However, his contributions to the Clippers have placed them atop the Pacific Division.

The rest of the Los Angles Clippers bench did not provide much.

Despite their two game winning streak, the Memphis Grizzlies have not made a lot of ground on catching up to the San Antonio Spurs, who are currently on a four-game winning streak. The safe money is on Gregg Popovich winning the Southwest Division yet again. Of course, the Grizzlies do not need to beat the Spurs in the standings to sneak into the NBA Playoffs. They just need to string a couple of more victories together.

As far as the Los Angeles Clippers are concerned, they are currently leading the Pacific Division. Of course, that does not mean much because there is a very good chance that the Golden State Warriors are going to catch fire once they figure out how to integrate Kevin Durant.
