BIGBANG To Make K-Pop Comeback In December — Yang Hyun Suk Gives A Spoiler Of YG Entertainment Boy Band’s Music Video Before Mandatory Military Service

Out of all the K-pop acts currently active in the industry presently, the one act considered to be the most-popular historically is most-likely Big Bang. Formed under YG Entertainment back in 2006, the five-member K-pop boy band — consisting of G-Dragon, T.O.P., Daesung, Taeyang, and Seungri — has been making hits for about a decade. Their biggest years, however, were in 2012 and 2015 with the albums Alive and MADE respectively. These two albums alone produced some of their most well-known songs including “Fantastic Baby,” “Bae Bae,” and “Bang Bang Bang.”

The last major K-pop comeback BIGBANG ever made was with the album “MADE” last year. The album and promotions for it spanned most of the year as songs were released systematically to keep BIGBANG on top. [Image by YG Entertainment]

The year 2016, on the other hand, has been very quiet for Big Bang about anything new. One reason is the fact 2016 marks their 10-year anniversary, so they are most-likely busy with projects centered on the milestone which includes fan meet-and-greets, an exhibition, movie, and concerts performing the past ten years of songs. However, the biggest reason for nothing new might be that certain members are getting up in age and they need to fulfill conscription or mandatory military service. This is definitely true for T.O.P.

Still, K-pop fans — especially those who are V.I.P. (official fan club of Big Bang) — hoped that Big Bang would at least perform one new song before conscription calls away certain members. Once T.O.P. or any other members of Big Bang are in the military, K-pop fans will have to wait at least two years for each member because the term for said service is two years minimum. Thankfully, Big Bang is not sending us off empty handed as they will make their only K-pop comeback of 2016 this coming December. Apparently, Yang Hyun Suk is excited that he gave a spoiler of Big Bang’s upcoming music video.

The news of Big Bang making their K-pop comeback for 2016, which will be their only K-pop comeback for this year, was first made yesterday, November 16, when a source from YG Entertainment confirmed it, as reported by Soompi. According to said source, both Big Bang and Sechskies will be releasing something new in December.

“SechsKies and Big Bang are filming their individual music videos and preparing for a comeback before the end of the year. [Their comebacks] will no occur past mid-December.

“The specific dates and related information will be released through posters and teasers later.”

Concentrating a bit on SechsKies, it is so amazing they are doing well given the fact they are considered a “first generation” K-pop boy band that was formed just as Hallyu was initiated (back in 1997). Almost two decades later, they are still so popular that YG Entertainment green-lit their K-pop comeback just six months after they came out of disbandment with “Three Words.” Also, SechsKies plans to appear sometime in the future on both Running Man and Weekly Idol.

Getting back to Big Bang, as mentioned earlier, they haven’t made anything new since 2015, when their last song at the time was “Let’s Not Fall In Love” (music video at top of article). They are getting a tad bit more attention about this announcement. And apparently, YG Entertainment founder and CEO Yang Hyun Suk is so excited for Big Bang’s upcoming K-pop comeback, he released a spoiler for their music video, as reported by AllKpop. “Papa YG” uploaded a video on his official Instagram on set of Big Bang’s new music video as shown below.

The teaser shows Big Bang on a five-person tandem bicycle as they pedal through an alleyway lit up with shops and food vendors. Other information we know about the upcoming K-pop comeback is that it will be part of their “MADE” project, one that was initiated last year, as reported by Mwave. Besides that, that is all we know about Big Bang’s 2016 K-pop comeback so far. However, we expect to see teasers released as we get closer to their release date which will most likely include individual photos, group photos, a track list, and a music video teaser.
