WWE News: Goldberg Injured? Health Status in Question Heading Into WWE Survivor Series

The WWE Universe is thrilled to have Goldberg back on WWE television. The feud with Brock Lesnar hasn’t been perfect, but the presence of both men and their physicality makes this match a must-see. That has made their upcoming match at WWE Survivor Series generate a lot of hype, and the fans have high expectations for the bout. WWE thrives on that, but there are some big questions heading into Sunday night’s PPV.

Recently, it was reported that WWE officials had some major concerns about Goldberg vs. Lesnar heading into WWE Survivor Series. The powers that be are concerned about the Toronto crowd hijacking the show and cheering for Brock over Goldberg. WWE officials did everything they could to ensure that Goldberg would be the face and Lesnar the heel heading into the PPV, but the crowd still holds the power over the situation.

Goldberg hasn’t wrestled in over 12 years. His last match in WWE was against Lesnar at WrestleMania 20, which infamously wasn’t well received. There is a lot on the line for the former WCW and WWE World Champion because it will likely be his last chance to end his WWE career on a positive note. However, between the crowd potentially booing him, his ring rust, and his health in question, he could be walking into a disaster.

Twelve years is a long time to be away from the ring, so WWE hopes that Goldberg will be able to handle his own against Brock Lesnar. Not everyone feels that way, but the buildup has shown the WWE Universe that Goldberg is rusty and that the match at WWE Survivor Series could be a disappointment.

He’s had a few missteps that have shown a few chinks in the armor. His return to WWE was close to perfect, but his first time getting physical with Rusev saw him succumb to his ring rust and slip trying to perform his Jackhammer finisher. Wrestling is imperfect, and one botched move isn’t a big deal, but now there is a report going around that Goldberg injured himself during Raw this week — only six days before WWE Survivor Series.

According to a new report, Goldberg recently did a Q&A session with Scott Dargis on NBC Sports to promote WWE Survivor Series. During the interview, he revealed the following.

“My body feels horrible. I tweaked my shoulder last night (on RAW during an in-ring segment with Lesnar), but that doesn’t mean in five days that I’m not going to come out kicking ass and taking names like I always do.”

The match at WWE Survivor Series will go on as planned, but Goldberg doesn’t seem to be heading into the bout with Brock Lesnar at 100 percent. Frankly, a lot of people are concerned about him being able to handle the match on Sunday after tweaking his shoulder on Raw without actually doing anything physical with Brock. That should be a big red flag for WWE officials heading into WWE Survivor Series.

Brock Lesnar’s style in the ring is very unforgiving. Goldberg’s body will take a beating, but WWE knew that heading into the match. The WWE crowd in Toronto will turn on the match if the pace is too slow because Goldberg can’t keep up or if he gets injured too early in the match. It’s not entirely his fault because it’s a lot to ask of a man in his 50s who hasn’t wrestled in over a decade, but that’s the situation WWE has created.

It’s been reported that Brock Lesnar will get the win over Goldberg at WWE Survivor Series, but WWE has planned a big send-off for the latter as the PPV goes off the air. There are some big questions heading into Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar, and there is the potential for it to fail. However, it could end up being one of the most intense and fun matches WWE has ever had. Heading into WWE Survivor Series, the most that WWE officials and the WWE Universe can do is hope for the best and deal with the results.
