Britney Spears ‘Slumber Party’ Feat. Tinashe Gets Mixed Reviews, Music Video Coming Friday
Britney Spears released “Slumber Party” on her latest studio album, “Glory.” Rather than releasing the song as a single as is, however, Britney decided to re-release it as a remix, featuring Tinashe.
Spears announced the collaboration earlier this week and the song was made available for purchase on iTunes. The star, who is currently in Las Vegas for her residency at Planet Hollywood, also announced that she’d be releasing a music video for the song on Friday, Nov. 18!
So far, reviews of Britney Spears’ “Slumber Party” collaboration have been mixed. Some people love that Tinashe was featured on the re-release of the track, but others feel as though the two sounds exactly the same and that Tinashe didn’t add much more to the already popular tune.
According to Billboard, Britney and Tinashe filmed the song’s music video together and Tinashe revealed the collaboration a few weeks ago.
“Brit has teased her duet with the R&B star for the best part of a month. Tinashe then sent Brit’s fans into a frenzy when she fired off a snap from the set three weeks ago.”
Britney Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video will be her second from Glory. She previously released the video for “Make Me…” feat. G-Eazy. Her song “Private Show” wasn’t released as a single, but is featured as the track in the commercials for her newest fragrance by the same name.
So far, there have not been too many clues about the upcoming music video. Britney Spears released a still from the vid as a sort of teaser for fans, but no one really seems to know a theme or anything.

It’s curious that Britney Spears chose “Slumber Party” as her second single as she has other songs on the album that are far more popular (like “Liar,” for example). Doing a remix with Tinashe was a smart move as she has proven to be a great addition to existing tracks — like her “Jealous” remix with Nick Jonas. However, in “Jealous,” Tinashe has her own part and she sings separate from Nick, making her really stand out. It’s really hard to distinguish her voice on Britney’s track. Basically, she just sings with the pop star and has just two lines that are her own.
Tinashe comes in after the one-minute mark and sings the four lines of the second verse.
“Let’s fill up this clawfoot bath with bubbles/Loving me so hard it’s causing trouble/If there’s seven minutes in heaven make it double, triple/Like a slumber party.”
After that, both Tinashe and Britney Spears add their own flare, ad-libbing to the existing track, but it’s nothing that really deviates from the original song. For many, this collaboration is reminiscent of Rihanna’s S&M remix featuring Britney. However, Riri and Brit sound different enough that the track was able to stand on its own and it was quite popular when it was released.
It’s unknown if Britney Spears has any other plans to release remixes of songs from “Glory,” but fans look forward to whatever it is that she decides to do moving forward. Her collaboration with G-Eazy on “Make Me…” was pretty awesome and having another rapper featured on a track would be a hit, no doubt. It would be amazing if she could get someone like The Weeknd or Fetty Wap to do a remix with her.
And, of course, many fans are still waiting for Britney’s collaboration with Pitbull. That has to happen sometime soon, right?
