‘American Horror Story’ Spoilers: Ryan Murphy Hints At Season 7 Theme, Series To Return In The Spring

American Horror Story: My Roanoke Nightmare finale aired last night, and many viewers were shocked to see the identity of the lone survivor. Many people guessed that Lee (Adina Porter) would be the last man (or woman) standing, but that proved to be wrong. In the end, Flora was the only survivor of Season 6.

Now, that Season 6 is over and done with, the American Horror Story fans are anxiously awaiting the Season 7 premiere date. Apparently, showrunner Ryan Murphy teased that he would bring the series back in the Spring, and wouldn’t keep the theme a secret like he did with Season 6. That is all good news for the fans, as they are counting down until the series returns to FX in the Spring.

Bustle reports that Murphy dropped a few juicy teasers about American Horror Story’s upcoming season in a series of interviews. Ryan announced that he was hoping to produce two seasons a year, which meant he had to make each season only ten episodes. For many fans, that was a great sacrifice because waiting nine months in between seasons feels like pure torture!

“John Landgraf [of FX] and Dana Walden [of Fox TV Group] and I were talking, and the show is in its sixth season, and we’ve always done everything by the book. Come January or February I announce what the theme is, and then we announce the cast. We wanted to [create a] different experience for the fans this year,” Ryan Murphy told THR.

Based on a few juicy tidbits that Murphy has stated, we can piece together a few American Horror Story spoilers before the official teaser comes out early next year.

There Will Be Major Connects To Previous Seasons

Murphy stated that Seasons 7 and 8 would have major characters from previous seasons pop in for guest appearances, reported Entertainment Weekly. He added that they tested it out this season by bringing Lana Winters back for the American Horror Story Season 6 finale.

“You’ll see it this season, and then you’ll really see it after this season. We lay a lot of pipes, and you’ll see it explode in Seasons 7 and 8,” Murphy explained. “That means that something as satisfying as Lana Winters showing up in Roanoke will become the norm, not the exception.”

It Won’t Be A Murder HouseCoven Crossover

American Horror Story showrunners promised a Murder House and Coven crossover, but it won’t be during Season 7. Apparently, they plan to bring all the characters from Seasons 1 and 3, putting together one of the most bizarre (and twisted) seasons to date.

“It’s not going to be next season, but we are going to do a season that’s a crossover between Murder House and Coven together, which is very bizarre,” Murphy teased.

He went on to explain that it can’t be for next season because it takes planning to get the actors’ schedules to work for filming. Even so, he dropped very little hints about the theme of Season 7.

Bring On Jessica Lange

American Horror Story spoilers reveal that Season 7 will include “a few key Freak Show characters.” Ever since Murphy disclosed that, the AHS fans have hoped that Jessica Lange would pop in for a guest appearance. Ryan stated that the connections to Freak Show would “explode” in Season 7.

It Will Be Set In The Past

Freak Show was set in the 1950s, so it is a safe bet to assume that Season 7 will feature the same time frame. American Horror Story Reddit users believe the theme will be a WWII era Miltary and government conspiracy theme, but Murphy hasn’t confirmed or denied the popular fan theory.

It Won’t Be The Secret Season

American Horror Story spoilers teased that a secret season is in the works, but confirmed that it wouldn’t be Season 7. The showrunners promised the fans that they would announce the theme, and revealed that the series would return to FX in the Spring.

“I’ve been working with a writer on a season that only he and I know,” Murphy explained. “It’s like a two-year project that we’ll continue to work on the sly and not tell anybody.”

American Horror Story fans, what do you think the Season 7 theme is? Do you think it could be about aliens and Area 51?
