‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Spoilers: See Cristina Yang Return, As Richard Webber Gets The Ax

Season 13 of Grey’s Anatomy has already featured a lot of twists and turns. While Richard Webber’s future at Grey Sloan Memorial remains under question, there is a strong possibility that Cristina Yang will return in the near future.

What else can fans expect to unfold as Season 13 continues to unfold?

According to Australian Network News, Sandra Oh is all but set to reprise her role as fan favorite Cristina Yang. Rumors of Oh’s return have plagued the show ever since her departure a few seasons back.

Rumors of Oh’s return to Grey’s Anatomy went into overdrive when the actress agreed to appear on the ABC show, American Crime. Although fans are eager to find out if Oh will make her way back to the hit medical drama, she recently put down rumors of her return.

“No, I have no plans to return to Grey’s anytime soon,” she stated. But, the clip below seems to shoot down what she says

Oh was thankful, however, for being a part of the show all these years, though it is still unclear why she originally decided to leave. Oh has never commented on her exit, but her decision may have been a career choice rather than anything personal.

According to iTech Post, the nature of Oh’s exit opens up the possibility that she will reprise her role at some point in time. After all, Shonda Rhimes did not kill off her character and has openly admitted that she would love for Oh to return.

Plus with Meredith’s flashbacks of McDreamy last week, she could really use “her person.”

Unfortunately, there’s no telling when or if this will happen this season. Considering all the drama that has unfolded so far, it wouldn’t be surprising if Rhimes shocked fans and brought back Oh for a special cameo.

To add more credence to the rumors, this season is supposed to focus more on the original characters. What better way to accomplish this than bringing back a fan favorite like Cristina?

Meanwhile, Movie Fone reports that some of the doctors at Grey Sloan are at risk of losing their jobs in the winter finale. It all began in the last episode of Grey’s Anatomy when Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) took control of a risky surgery as a voice-over said, “A power struggle could have deadly consequences.”

“We need to discuss the options,” Dr. Webber told Meredith

“No we don’t,” Meredith responded. “I outrank you.”

Webber later had problems with Owen and how the doctors were treating a patient. While Stephanie is discussing the injuries of said patient without much emotion, Webber interjected and asked them if they knew anything about the man’s history.

“What do we need to know in order to do our jobs and not simply be mechanics?” Webber asked the pair.

When Owen tried to assure Webber that they aren’t “mechanics” and are doing their best to treat his injuries, he told him, “You’re treating this patient like a sack of organs on a table!”

According to Screener TV, the latest develops could mean that Meredith is taking Eliza’s side against Webber and accepting his demotion. Does this mean that Webber is out as the director of the residency program?

If this is the case, then a major shift in alliance is ahead between Meredith and Eliza. Either way, it is clear that Webber continues to struggle to keep up with modern medicine and might be on the way out if things don’t turn around soon.

iDigital Times reports that Webber has slowly declined in power through the years. Ever since he stepped down as chief, viewers have seen him jump from one position to another, seemingly finding a fit in the residency program.

All the while, Webber has tried his best to stay on top of the latest developments in modern medicine.

Unfortunately, Alex’s drama this season has put the hospital on edge and made Chief Bailey revamp how things are done. Whether or not this means that Webber is replaced is yet to be seen.

Whatever ends up happening with Webber, it looks like his friendship with Meredith could be forever changed in the winter finale. Hopefully, the two work things out and Webber is able to maintain his composure. If he doesn’t, there is a very real possibility that he will lose his position.

Webber isn’t the only doctor that might get fired this season. Alex (Justin Chambers) has faced a number of challenges this year and many fans suspect that Chambers will leave the show before the season is out.

It would be an exit that has been hinted at a few times this season. In an earlier episode, Alex told Meredith he wants to make pancakes on Sundays, “as long as he’s around.” Referencing the fact that he thinks he is probably going to jail for his assault on DeLuca.

Of course, no announcements about casting changes have been made. Until more information is revealed, fans will have to tune into the Grey’s Anatomy winter finale to see who makes it through to the second half of Season 13.
