Father Of Three, Who Joked About Voting Trump, Gunned Down Outside Atlanta Bar

Mitchell Mormon Jr, was gunned down outside a bar when he got into an argument with a man and joked he voted for Donald Trump, the New York Post is reporting.

The 32-year-old man who was on a date was shot dead outside an Atlanta bar on Saturday around 3 a.m. His date, Shaunita Walker, was also shot in the arm during the incident. The 25-year-old is said to be currently in stable condition.

Mormon who was described as a “lovable person” recently got a job and developed a friendly relationship with Walker during an orientation for new workers. The fun date turned ugly when Mormon, a father-of-three, got into a heated argument with a man as he left the bar with his date.

According to Walker, she had forgotten her phone in the bar and gone back to get it, the alleged shooter who she described as Hispanic had made a lewd comment to her. The tragic incident unfolded when Mormon asked what the Hispanic man said and she told him.

The 32-year-old had confronted the alleged shooter and jokingly told him that he had voted for President-elect Donald Trump and that he would be deported by next week. The argument had continued with the man leaving and returning with a gun. When he returned, he immediately opened fire on the couple. Shaunita Walker said the first shot hit her in the arm and the subsequent shots hit Mitchell who crumpled to the ground.

“When I heard the first shot and it went through my arm, I just grabbed my arm and began to scream…and then I heard two more shots and I saw Mitchell on the ground.”

Walker said she told her date to breathe and tried comforting him before he eventually died. Police have released surveillance footage and identified “persons of interest” asking the public to provide any information that can lead to their whereabouts.

The two males in the footage appear to be Hispanic with one man wearing a hood sweatshirt with a backpack. The other man is clad in blue jeans and a white jacket. Even though Mitchell Mormon joked about voting for Trump, Walker does not think it had anything to do with the crime. She says it was just a senseless act of violence because the alleged gunman was looking to start something right from the very beginning.

Mormon’s parents say they have already forgiven their son’s killer and would prefer to concentrate on the life he lived and the children he left behind. His dad said he loved sports a lot and always wanted to get people involved somehow.

“He loved getting everybody else involved playing. He was just a lovable person and everybody loved him.”

The 32-year-old left behind three children. The youngest is three months old and the oldest is eight years old. The one in between is four years old. Dortensia Woods, mother of two of his kids remembers him as a good man who just got started after a hard life. The pair had broken up with the birth of the youngest child.

“He had finally gotten a great job that was able to support his children. He was really happy about it. This was the first job where he didn’t have to work weekends, or on holidays, and with benefits.”

Woods said Mormon was the kind to joke around, but added that he was also very protective of those around him.

“I think that plays into it. They were just having a good time and things just escalated.” Dortensia Woods said Mormon voted during the elections, but declined to say whether it was Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton
