Son Of Wisconsin State Senator Assaulted While Protecting Romney Sign

Whitewater , WI – State Senator, Neal Kedzie, claims his son was assaulted in his own front yard, while attempting to thwart men stealing a Mitt Romney sign. Sean reportedly woke up after hearing noises outside of his home. When he went to find out what all the clatter was about, he allegedly saw an individual trying to take the Republican political sign.

Sean Kedzie was reportedly wrestled to the ground by two unknown suspects. The victim claims he was physically restrained, put in a chokehold, and then hit in the head and face multiple times.

The senator had this to say about the Romney/Ryan sign assault according to a statement republished by The Blaze:

“He yelled to the person that they were taking something that was not theirs and to return it immediately. The individual returned the sign, however, a second person confronted and attacked Sean without warning. He nearly passed out from the chokehold and suffered contusions to his face and eyes.”

A neighbor eventually came to Sean’s aid, scared the suspects away, and then called the police. The Wisconsin elected official and his wife received a phone call from their son’s roommate shortly thereafter. Sean was treated and later released from Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital. He is reportedly convalescing at home.

The Whitewater Police Department is currently investigating the alleged front yard beating over a Romney sign. Senator Kedzie has not spoken about the October 19 incident publicly, and released only a statement to answer questions about his son’s attack. The family did note that it is troubling that the attack appears to have been politically motivated, according to NBC 15 News.
