Play ‘The Elder Scrolls Online’ For Free This Weekend On PlayStation 4 And PC, Xbox One Free Weekend Coming Soon

For the weekend, The Elder Scrolls Online is completely free-to-play on PC and PlayStation 4. The buy-to-play title is hosting a free weekend on these platforms, giving everyone a chance to jump into the One Tamriel update without having to purchase the game client. Players can start downloading the client on November 16 and the whole free weekend will conclude on November 20, giving players ample time to experience the sprawling world of Tamriel.

Although The Elder Scrolls Online requires no subscription to play, adventurers must first purchase the game client before playing. This weekend, players on PC and PlayStation 4 do not have to purchase the client in order to play during the free weekend period. The promotion, which has previously occurred on PC, is new to PlayStation 4, giving console players a chance to see what the MMORPG is like today.

The free weekend will be available on both PC and PlayStation 4 this weekend according to the official game website. A free Xbox One weekend is currently planned for a later date; however, no dates are confirmed at this time. Potential players on both PC and PS4 can start downloading the client as early as November 16. On PC, players will need to visit the game’s Steam page and, of course, PS4 players will need to locate the client in the PlayStation Store.

“We’re thrilled to announce our very first Free Play Weekend for The Elder Scrolls Online on PlayStation 4. This is a great opportunity to jump into the giant world of ESO and try it for yourself. You’ll be able to begin downloading the game on the PlayStation Network this Wednesday (November 16) starting at 12:01AM local time in Europe and 12:01AM EST in North America.”

As stated on the PlayStation Blog, players will need a hefty 73 GB of hard drive space, but PlayStation Plus will not be required for the weekend. After the weekend ends, a client purchase and PlayStation Plus will be required to continue the adventure. Any progression made during the free weekend on either platform will carry over if a player decides to buy the game, of course.

In addition to the free weekend promotion, players will find that Crowns are also on sale for the duration of the event and then some. The sale on Crowns will start soon and continue to be available through November 28. If the current sale mirrors previous Crown discounts, the larger packs of Crowns will be more heavily discounted with the $40 pack of 5500 Crowns marked down by 40 percent. The Crown sale should extend to all platforms on which The Elder Scrolls Online appears. The base game and special versions of The Elder Scrolls Online will also be discounted during the event.

“The Free Play Weekend will run until November 20 at 11:59 PM Eastern in North America. In celebration of the Free Play Weekend, Crown Packs and all versions of ESO are currently available at a discounted price. There’s never been an easier way to jump into ESO. Check PlayStation Store for details.”

The renowned franchise’s MMORPG recently updated with the One Tamriel content on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. As the Inquisitr reported, this update made the entire world scale to a unified level so that players of all levels from any of the game’s three factions can play anywhere with anyone.

In PvE content, a player’s chosen faction is no longer a barrier when grouping with players from other factions, and the update introduced dueling to the game. The update also brought with it new gear sets, debuted weapon ultimate abilities, and revamped Craglorn in The Elder Scrolls Online.
