‘The X Factor’ Renewed For A Third Season

The X Factor has been officially renewed for a third season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The addition of Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to the lineup has seemingly worked out well for the network. As a result, FOX would like nothing more than to host the singing competition for at least one more season.

Needless to say, Simon Cowell is excited about the prospect of a third season. “I couldn’t be happier,” the series creator explained in a recent statement. “I am so proud of the show and the team who have made it this season. The gloves are off! Expect fireworks!”

Sharing in Cowell’s enthusiasm for the third season of The X Factor is Mike Darnell, president of alternative programming for FOX. “This season, Simon and the producers of ‘The X Factor’ took an already strong show and made it absolutely fantastic,” he said. “The format changes are working, the contestants are unbelievably talented, and Britney and Demi — alongside Simon and L.A — have brought an incredibly fun new chemistry to the judges’ panel that our fans really love.”

According to MTV News, Cowell first broke the news of the singing competition’s renewal on Twitter. “It was important for you to be the first to know because it is thanks to your support and enthusiasm we are coming back,” he wrote. “I want to personally thank each and every one of you, it is hugely appreciated and never forgotten.”

Although The X Factor has been renewed for a third season, it still remains unclear if Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will return for another go-around. Given the show’s success this season, chances are FOX will do whatever they can to maintain these high ratings well into the future.
