Best Buy Black Friday Sale For PS4 Pro/Ultra-HD 4K TV Bundles, Available Only At This Store For 2016 — Is The Upgrade Worth It?

Players demanding the PS4 Pro console at a Black Friday deal are in for a surprise, according to BGR. Best Buy has touted itself being the only big box store to offer a PlayStation 4 Pro/Ultra-HD 4K TV bundle deal for the mid-generation console. It can still play PS4 games, so you may want to take advantage of this offer if you’re not wanting to wait a full generation for technology to advance.

Frame Rates Falling Short On Enhanced Games

However, there have been reports of performance issues with the PlayStation 4 Pro console. Skyrim runs on the system at an apparently slower frame rate compared to the already existing PS4. The Verge mentioned that it was only “enhanced” games like Skyrim and The Last of Us that had fallen short of the regular PlayStation 4’s console’s frame rates of 30 to 60 frames per second, respectively.

On the brighter side, since it’s only a few select “enhanced” games that have been problematic, this might not deter you from this Best Buy PS4 Black Friday special. Sony also addressed the frame rate issue.

“We are aware of the issue and currently investigating.”

A commenter on the Mirror’s site is hopeful of the support as the write-up doesn’t make the purchase appealing.

“This isn’t good to hear that’s for sure. Hopefully some driver optimizations on Sony’s part can alleviate some of these issues. Extra resolution is great but not at the cost of frame rate, especially with PS4 frame rates already only just being sufficient.”

Since the console just debuted, do you think some retailers are holding off on Black Friday deals for the PS4 Pro?

Is An Upgrade Worth The Bundle?

Although Best Buy has been advertised as the only place offering the Toshiba 55-inch Class LED 4K Ultra HD Smart TV and PlayStation 4 Pro Bundle, you may want to call around to see if other retailers do price matching. This isn’t limited to just gift giving, so if you’re looking to get a great deal for yourself alone as a gaming enthusiast, it would be a nice way to take advantage of this Black Friday offer.

The Best Buy ad was published on a 51-page listing over at Black Friday Gotta Deal. You may want to double check to see if the offer is still available.

On another note, regular PS4 sales had risen to around 200 percent since the Pro launched in the U.K. last week, which makes sense because some people like to wait for prices to go down when new technology comes out to replace it. Around 65 percent of the sales were of the PS4 Pro model which is a pretty good amount for starters.

This PlayStation 4 Pro bundle that comes with the Ultra-HD 4K TV would be pretty ideal for those who lack such a model currently. That said, if you’d like to get two bangs for the buck, strike while the iron is hot on Thursday, November 24.

The PS4 Pro console has been touted a “gaming powerhouse,” according to the Mirror, and is backed by eight gigabytes of RAM, a single terabyte hard drive, and a 4.2 teraflop AMD Polaris GPU, which gives it twice the speed as the regular PlayStation 4.

More Of The Old, In With The New

There has been a serious upswing in regular PS4 sales since the debut of the PS4 Pro console in the U.K. last week. Apparently, these sales had risen to around 200 percent, according to Game Spot. The Pro model had sales that numbered in the 65-percent range for the week ending on Nov. 12. Regular Sony console sales had an eight and a half percent sales increase week-over-week.

So is the Best Buy Black Friday 2016 PlayStation Pro/Samsung Ultra-HD 4K combo still incentive enough to purchase from this big box retailer in time for the holidays? Are you ready to test the optimized capabilities of this unit against other competing consoles?
