Channing Tatum Shares Details Of Stripper Past, Wife Jenna Says It Was Strange Going To Beyoncé Concert Together

Channing Tatum is just one in a surprising number of celebrities who worked as a stripper before getting their break in show business.

Many celebrities who’ve achieved success in show business have a background in theater, dramatics, or fashion modeling; and many well-known artists have had early breakthroughs in their career by featuring as child artists or by winning a talent show. However, there are other celebrities, such as Chris Pratt, Mark Consuelos, Lady Gaga, Eve, and Amber Rose who achieved their show-business breakthrough using their stripping talents.

Channing Tatum dabbled in stripping before he was offered the opportunity to become a dancer in Ricky Martin’s music video, “She Bangs.” Channing Tatum previously worked as a stripper in Los Angeles’s nightclubs. In fact, Tatum revealed that the only things relevant in the strange world of male stripping were money, girls, and exciting moments with clients.

Later, the singer/dancer became serious about his career and decided to use his confidence and charm in the world of fashion modeling, rather than being just a ladies’ man. His real opportunity in fashion modeling came when he modeled for Armani and Abercrombie and Fitch. After some successful modeling stints which led to a feature in Vogue, Tatum landed a guest role in CSI: Miami, the famous crime drama television series.

He later established himself as a talented actor by starring in movies like Coach Carter, Step Up, and She’s the Man. Despite putting his stripper past behind him, the actor wanted audiences to be aware of the dark world of male stripping, so he agreed to produce Magic Mike, the 2012 comedy film, after filmmaker Steven Soderbergh showed his willingness to direct a movie based on Tatum’s previous stripping experience. Magic Mike proved to be a box-office hit, and its success prompted the actor and his co-producers to create a sequel titled Magic Mike XXL.

Channing Tatum received credit not only for his acting skills but also for his courage in producing a film that could well have drawn flak for its subject matter. As expected, Tatum’s Magic Mike films turned out to be hugely popular with female fans. However, for various reasons, male audiences seem to have reservations about watching the movie. Nevertheless, critics suggested that Magic Mike was an excellent movie; a movie that should also be appreciated by men, irrespective of their egos or fear about being questioned about their sexuality. According to Yahoo, Adam Rodriguez, Tatum’s co-star in the Magic Mike movies, revealed that it took a lot of courage for a man to shed his inhibitions and go to the theater to witness the life of a male stripper.

“I appreciate the guys that had the courage to go ahead and say, ‘I’m going to watch this movie!'”

Rodrigues was grateful to Channing Tatum for offering him a role in the movie: the two have been good friends ever since Tatum played a guest role in CSI: Miami.

Channing Tatum might have entertained many audiences by playing a stripper in Magic Mike, but in real life, he loves the music of singer Beyoncé. The in-demand actor’s obsession with Beyoncé’s music is also shared by Jenna Dewan-Tatum, his wife, who accompanied her husband to Beyoncé’s concert. According to InStyle magazine, Jenna revealed that it’s a strange experience having Channing amongst Beyoncé’s female audiences because these are the same people who are huge admirers of her husband.

“It was funny going to a Beyoncé concert with Chan when you realize 99 percent of the audience is female. Initially, he might have felt a little out of place and then, we had a good time.”
