Why Did Kendall Jenner Quit Instagram? Kim Kardashian May Have Been An Influence

Kendall Jenner is done with Instagram — at least for the time being. But why?

Although Kendall Jenner didn’t explain her sudden exit from the social media platform when she deleted her account days ago, a source claims the 21-year-old’s decision may have something to do with her sister, Kim Kardashian, and her October 3 robbery in Paris, France.

“[Kendall Jenner] talked to [Kim Kardashian] about her break from social media and got advice from her big sister on her Instagram account,” a source told Hollywood Life on November 14. “Kim told Kendall to pull the plug on the haters.”

Kendall Jenner’s sister was robbed at gunpoint while in Paris last month, and ever since, she has kept a low profile, which is highly out of the ordinary for the typically public reality star and mother of two.

“[Kendall Jenner] saw how Kim’s break from social helped her alleviate stress and anxiety in her life,” our insider revealed. “Kim has been able to decompress from a lot of the negative energy and bullies online, which has always been an issue for Kendall.”

The report also claimed Kendall Jenner had been negatively impacted by comments made by her fans and followers. According to the report, Kendall Jenner does her best to avoid negative comments, but despite her efforts, she often finds herself affected by her followers’ criticism.

Kendall Jenner follows in the footsteps of not only her sister, Kim Kardashian, but also longtime friend Justin Bieber, who deleted his account in August after he was involved in a highly publicized feud with his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez, who is also a friend of Kendall Jenner.

In a second report shared by Cosmopolitan magazine on November 14, a few of Kendall Jenner’s past comments about social media and her dislike of the concept were shared.

During one interview earlier this year, Kendall Jenner spoke about the exact moment when she realized how much of life is actually missed due to the use of social media.

“It was the first time we had ever been to this beautiful place, and we were sitting in a car. I was just zoning out, taking it all in. And Kylie wouldn’t put her phone down,” Kendall Jenner recalled to Allure magazine. “I’m like, ‘That’s so crazy to me that you’re not experiencing this.’ That was the moment it kind of clicked for me. And I didn’t like it. So sometimes I delete Instagram or Twitter or Snapchat off my phone for a couple days.”

In a second interview, Kendall Jenner admitted that social media can give others a false sense of reality.

“I think social media has taken over for our generation. I hate it sometimes, like, I literally want to throw my phone so I can’t look at it,” Kendall Jenner explained to the Sunday Times in June of 2015. “It’s all a made-up world if you think about it. Social media, everything, this interview, everything. It’s not real. It’s pretty crazy.”

In other Kendall Jenner news, the reality star and model, who will soon walk in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, has been linked to both Harry Styles and Jordan Clarkson in recent weeks, but thus far, she has remained completely silent in regard to what is going on with her love life.
