Melissa Gorga Says Husband Was Voice Of Reason: ‘I Am Not Going To Break That Promise’

Melissa Gorga made a conscious decision to get along with her sister-in-law this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey after years of drama. Melissa knew that she probably wouldn’t get much out of confronting Teresa about their past, as she would now become a single mother as Joe Giudice was getting ready to serve over three years in prison. Instead of bringing up the past, Gorga decided to focus on the future and the two ladies decided to make a pact; they would defend one another from outside sources and continue to be friends.

According to a new Bravo report, Melissa Gorga is now revealing that she made this pact with Teresa due to her husband, Joe Gorga. It’s no secret that Joe really wanted a relationship with his sister, who kept her distance from people who were a negative influence. After Teresa spent almost a year behind bars, she came home to love and support and Melissa Gorga wanted to be part of her support system. And she stood by Giudice the entire time that they filmed The Real Housewives of New Jersey and the drama-filled reunion special.

“Thank you so much for always supporting our family and the show. The reunions are super frustrating for me. All we want to do is explain how we are feeling and tell our side of the story, but that doesn’t get to happen when everyone talks over each other,” Melissa Gorga writes in her Bravo blog for this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, sharing that things are going great with her and Teresa.

During the first part of the reunion, Melissa Gorga revealed that she had a hard time expressing her thoughts and point of view because she kept being interrupted by Jacqueline Lauria. Gorga hinted that she would get a chance during the second half. But while Melissa didn’t get a chance to speak, her husband proved to be the voice of reason. He didn’t say much but Joe did say some powerful things about love, family and friendships.

“Joe didn’t say too much at the reunion, but the few words he did say hit home for me. It’s true, it hurts your heart when it’s family. When you fight with family it affects so many other people, not just who you are in the argument with. I’m not saying I don’t get disappointed or upset when I argue with my friends, but there is a difference,” Melissa points out in her blog for Bravo, sharing that he is right about the fighting affecting many people.

All of the ladies made a pact not to speak negatively about one another after the reunion special aired this Sunday on Bravo. But it sounds like Melissa Gorga made an additional promise to her husband and Teresa – one that she isn’t planning on breaking no matter how tough things get.

“I agreed to forgive and move forward with Teresa. When I did that, it wasn’t only for me, it was for my husband, my children and my in-laws. It’s unfortunate that I felt a lot of pressure from others to go against that promise, but I refuse to keep rehashing the past, and I am not going to break that promise for anyone. At the end of the reunion, we all made a promise to move forward in peace,” Melissa Gorga explains in her blog for Bravo.
