Adam Levine Leaving ‘The Voice’? How Feuding With Miley Cyrus Pushed Him Over The Edge

The competition is heating up on Season 11 of The Voice. While the stress is mounting in front of the cameras, it is nothing compared to what’s happening behind the scenes between Adam Levine and Miley Cyrus.

Will Levine quit over his feud with the “Wrecking Ball” singer?

Radar Online reports that Levine threatened to leave the show if producers brought Cyrus back for Season 12. Cyrus joined the competition this season along with Alicia Keys. This is the first year that The Voice has featured an equal coaching field, which also includes Blake Shelton.

Although Levine threatened to leave, Cyrus is not coming back as a coach next season. Instead, Shelton’s girlfriend and Voice alum, Gwen Stefani, is returning to her seat for Season 12.

“Adam was thrilled! He is just really glad that Miley is gone and Gwen is coming back!” an insider told the outlet. “Blake was not the same this season without Gwen there and it showed. When Gwen was a judge last season he was a ball of light and this season that light went out.”

Levine’s dislike for Cyrus goes both ways. While the insider added that “Adam really cannot stand Miley because he thinks that she is the most obnoxious person ever,” it appears like Cyrus feels the same way towards Levine.

Despite their mutual hatred for each other, Aces Show Biz is reporting that fans haven’t seen the last of Cyrus. In fact, Liam Hemsworth’s fiancée is expected to return to The Voice in Season 13, which doesn’t bode well for Levine.

“Adam does not really want to return if they bring Miley back. He is that over it,” the insider shared. “Both Adam and Blake feel that they have run their course as judges and are highly considering both exiting at the time, along with Gwen.”

This isn’t the only time that Levine and Cyrus butted heads. A few months back, rumors hinted that Cyrus had rubbed Levine the wrong way from the start. To make matters worse, Levine constantly nagged everything Cyrus had to say and wouldn’t let up.

“Miley showed up like she owned the place and Adam seems just really tired of her interjecting every single time he is speaking!” an insider revealed. “Adam and Miley were non-stop bickering during their last taping together. He nitpicks almost every single thing she says.”

Part of the problem is that Levine and Cyrus are too similar to get along. Not only do they “have short attention spans,” but an insider noted that Cyrus enjoys “getting under his skin.”

Cyrus isn’t the only person on Levine can’t get along with. As previously reported by Inquisitr, Levine just slammed Shelton on social media by telling his followers he would like to punch the country crooner in the face.

“I wanna punch young @blakeshelton’s face so hard,” Levine wrote.

Adam Levine’s joke on social media was all in good fun, though it didn’t take long for Stefani to hit back. After the No Doubt alum read Levine’s tweet, she posted, “U r so dumb.”

Speaking of Shelton, he allegedly considered leaving The Voice if producers didn’t cast Stefani for next season. For producers, bringing Stefani back was an easy decision, especially considering how her romance with Shelton will likely boost ratings.

The Voice executives already know that Gwen and Blake together are ratings gold because they saw it last season,” an insider dished.

To further complicate things, Australian Network News reports that Stefani and Shelton don’t want Cyrus back on the show. Apparently, Stefani believes that Cyrus will try and steal the show if she returns in Season 13.

“They feel she’s in the way, and they don’t try to hide it,” a source explained. “Gwen doesn’t want to share the pop music spotlight with Miley. But it’s mostly because she and Blake see this as their show — they fell in love on the set, and they want to keep working together.”

That being said, neither Shelton nor Stefani have commented on their relationship with Cyrus. So far, no concrete evidence has emerged that the couple doesn’t want Cyrus on the show.

With Cyrus on the out for at least one season, the playing field will remain equal as Keys plans on staying on board for another year. Next season, fans will see Keys, Stefani, Shelton and Levine back as coaches.

Whether or not Cyrus returns to The Voice for a future season is yet to be seen. The singer has committed to being a part of Season 13, but anything can change in the meantime. If she does return, it sounds like Levine might decide to part ways with the show for good.

Fans can watch Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Miley Cyrus go head to head when new episodes of The Voice air Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
