Booker T Wants To Team Up With The Golden Truth To Take On The New Day At ‘WrestleMania 33’

It’s been over four years since WWE Hall of Famer Booker T last competed in a WWE ring, and since his last match — which as against Cody Rhodes — took place, he has been content with being retired, as he’s said on multiple occasions that he’s not planning on coming back for one last match. But, on a recent edition of the WWE Network series Table for Three, the former five-time WCW Champion said that he would come back for one more match at next year’s WrestleMania, and he even revealed his idea for what would be his last match.

In the clip below, Booker T tells Goldust and R-Truth that he would come back to the ring if WWE booked the three of them against the current WWE Tag Team Champions, The New Day [Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and Big E].

Booker T and Goldust were one of the most entertaining teams in WWE history during their run in the early-2000s. In fact, they were so entertaining, and so good together, that some people actually prefer the team of Booker T and Goldust over Harlem Heat, which is the team that helped make Booker T into the star that he is today.

WWE has continuously tried to recreate the magic that Booker T and Goldust had over the last year, but with R-Truth in Booker’s place. Needless to say, it hasn’t been quite as good. But, as of this writing at least, they’re still a team, even though they’re definitely not one of the top teams in the company right now.

Booker T, who turned 51 this past March, is still in fantastic shape, and he proved during his short feud with Cody Rhodes four years ago that he can still go. Will WWE actually use his idea and book him along with The Golden Truth against The New Day at WrestleMania 33? Probably not. But, it’s actually a pretty good idea, especially when you consider the fact that their tag team division is lacking depth. Also, WWE fans probably won’t want to see The New Day vs. Gallows and Anderson, which is probably the match that’s going to happen at the event.

If Booker T’s idea does end up happening, then it could be a retirement match for all three members of the team.

Goldust, who will be turning 48 just a couple of days after WrestleMania 33, has had a successful run since he returned to the company a couple of years ago. He’s still great in the ring, but WWE hasn’t really used him at all in recent months, and if he can have one last big match at WrestleMania 33, he could end up calling it a career next spring.

R-Truth, who will turn 45 in January, would be the youngest member of the three man team, and much like Goldust, he can still do a lot in the ring. Yet, his role has been greatly diminished over the last couple of years, and he probably won’t get a chance to go out on a better note if the six-man match ends up happening.

As previously mentioned, there really aren’t a whole lot of options for The New Day at WrestleMania 33 unless WWE decides to bring back another tag team from the past. Sure, they could make a match with Enzo Amore and Big Cass, but that doesn’t seem to be the direction they’re going in right now.

Aside from a standard tag team match against Enzo and Cass, the most intriguing matchup would be The New Day against Booker T, Goldust, and R-Truth, even though The Golden Truth haven’t exactly been booked well for most of this year.
