Michael Moore: ‘Don’t Call Yourself A Christian’ If You Support Donald Trump’s Presidency, Racial Division Is ‘Killing’ Our Country

Michael Moore appeared on the MSNBC show AM Reid with Joy Reid on Saturday with a message for Donald Trump’s supporters, especially those who call themselves Christians. He claimed that those who voted for Trump and “make excuses” for his crude behavior are part of the problem and the reason for the country’s racial division.

Many people of all races were disappointed by the election results on Tuesday, November 8. Moore says that white America has a responsibility now that Trump has validated extreme racism. Racism has always existed, but Donald brought it out and created a platform for his supporters to target minorities and women. Many white Americans falsely believed that racism was dead and that most forms of extreme racism were behind us—Michael Moore claims that is hardly the case.

“White people, no matter how painful, have a responsibility to reject anybody who stands in front of a camera who spews racism,” Moore said. “Who spews sexism, misogyny. Who brags about being a sexual predator? I don’t care what your race is, but especially if you’re white. Because that means that you belong to the race, that’s been in power forever. This a country that was founded on genocide and built on the backs of slaves. So you have a special responsibility as a white person to always object to anybody who uses racism, who spews this hatred. ”

For many white Americans, they were shocked to hear some of the vile things that not only Donald Trump has said, but the words his supporters has used to describe minorities over the past 18 months. It is a common trend to hear them refer to Michelle Obama as “an ape in a dress” or call President Obama “a monkey in a suit.” It is disgusting and racist, and as a country, we need to unify against racism, not use it to separate us.

The racism has put many white Americans in a hot spot. Do they take a stand for equality or do they succumb to peer pressure and use their white privilege to make others feel bad about their skin color?

Michael Moore pointed out that it is of particular importance that Christians take this time to stand up against the hatred and stop it in its tracks, according to Bipartisan Report.

“And do not call yourself a Christian if you are not willing, literally, to put your body in front of whoever is coming to hurt the other — the people who are not you,” Michael said on Joy Reid’s morning talk show.

Even though Donald Trump embodies everything that the Christians speak out against, they have flocked to support this unorthodox candidate. They have touted that he is good for the country and have ignored many of the facts that support the claim that he would be a disastrous president.

Southern Baptist televangelist Pat Robertson spent much of Trump’s campaign reaching out to his viewers and begging them to vote for Donald Trump. Robertson claimed that he believed that “Trump would continue God’s work” while president.

Many people were confused by his statement about Donald Trump because he has never been associated with the church in any way, shape or form. Suddenly, Christian leaders flocked to support the candidate that stood accused of rape and fraud?

Robertson went on to say that Melania Trump’s nude pictures, including the lesbian images, were a form of art that “celebrated the beauty of the human body.”

Of course, this is just months after the Republican party slammed Michelle Obama for wearing a sleeveless dress to the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Imagine the hatred the liberals would hear if Michelle had posed nude, even if it was 20 or more years ago?

In the wake of Donald Trump’s presidency, we’ve seen how complicit his supporters are towards racism and dehumanizing those who oppose the Republican party. For many Democrats, their behavior and harsh words are troubling and signal a larger underlying problem with the political system in America.

How do you feel about the racial division plaguing our once unified country? Do you think Donald Trump will make a good president, or will it be just another one of his failed business ideas?
