‘Halo’ 15th Anniversary To Be Celebrated Next Week, Developer 343 Industries Talks Event And Teases Future ‘Halo 5’ Plans

It appears that developer 343 Industries is going to be celebrating another year with the Halo franchise.

If you’re into first-person shooters, chances are you’ve played Halo or any of the other installments that have come in the series. Master Chief, the main protagonist and hero of many of the Halo games, has become an icon among characters that players would immediately recognize.

According to Gamespot, developer 343 Industries held a livestream where information about Microsoft’s big event was revealed. Halo was first released on November 15, 2001. Consequently, November 15 is when the event is supposed to kick off. Fans will be able to get a plethora of information about Halo in all its glory, including a Twitch stream and special discussions with developers.

In a blog post by Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries weighed in on what would take place during the stream and the special guests who would be included.

“During the jam-packed show we’ll have a special walkthrough of the Halo Museum, talk Halo Wars 2 with Dan Ayoub & Max Szlagor, hear about some of the team and community’s fondest Halo memories, play Halo 5 with fans, talk HCS with Tashi & Strongside, take a look at the upcoming Halo Loot crate with James, answer your tweets and whatever else we end up doing when we inevitably stray from script,” 343 Industries wrote.

While you would think that the Halo series has fallen to the wayside in terms of downloadable content, 343 Industries assures fans that there is more content coming with Halo 5. Unfortunately, they only teased some of the plans.

“Plans are being made for some big holiday playlist updates as well as the release of the next big Halo 5 content update,” the developer revealed. “I know you’re eager for those juicy details and we look forward to being able to share more soon.”

Could we be seeing another game entirely? With more content coming out, the idea doesn’t seem out of the question. In the meantime, the celebration will benefit those who still enjoy assault rifles and plasma swords every now and then. The developer has confirmed that fans will be receiving free Halo content, alongside what’s being called an “Anniversary Throwback” playlist for Halo 5.

“What kind of birthday party would it be without goodie bags for attendees!? I don’t want to spoil the surprise but I think you’ll dig it,” 343 Industries stated.

It seems that now would be a good time to jump back onto the Halo wagon if you fell off. According to a report by Gamerant, Halo 5 multiplayer DLC maps are consistently free. If you’re a newcomer to the series, it’s all the more reason to dive headfirst into the series. Unlike many other developers, content has been frequent and free for Halo 5 players. The most recent of these, Anvil’s Legacy, was released in September. Other expansions include The Battle of Shadow and Light, Cartographer’s Gift, Infinity’s Armor, Hammer Storm, Ghosts of Meridian, Memories of Reach, Hog Wild, and Warzone Firefight.

It’s being said that the newest Halo 5 updates will include features that work both in and out of the game. Players will be able to join live, custom games on both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Additionally, we’re looking at more maps for Warzone Firefight and new Forge content. Players will even get an updated spectator feature, giving the more casual player a new way to get their Halo fix.

Ultimately, it looks to be a massive overhaul to the Halo 5 title. If you own an Xbox One, you’ll want to take advantage of the opportunity to beef up the game’s plethora of content.
