Black Friday 2016: Store Hours, Thanksgiving Closures And Openings, And Free Shipping Information For Walmart, Best Buy, And Target

Black Friday 2016, which will take place on November 25 this year, is now less than two weeks away. Thanksgiving 2016, which will take place on November 24, is actually the start date for many Black Friday sales this year. Retailers are pushing their events forward more and more, and it is essential that you are aware of the hours for all of the major stores.

To add to the confusion, some stores will start their online sales even earlier. Most will begin at 12 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning, but others will start on Wednesday. A rare few will even start on Monday, so it is important to be prepared the entire week.

You can see a full selection of Black Friday and Thanksgiving store hours at BestBlackFriday.com, but here are the important ones.

Black Friday Free Shipping Information

With more doorbusters available on Thanksgiving and Black Friday than ever, it is important that you avoid paying shipping charges. In many instances, retailers will have a minimum order size that you have to meet in order to qualify for free shipping. This usually ranges from $35 to $75, and it completely depends on the store in question.

Since most small orders will not meet the minimum, paying shipping charges could eat up most of the discount that you receive on Black Friday. For that reason, it is recommended that you do not pay shipping charges on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, or Cyber Monday. Here are the free shipping terms for a few of the more popular stores.

  • Amazon – Minimum Order Size of $49 or a Prime membership, which requires an annual fee of $99.
  • Best Buy – No Minimum Order Size.
  • Kohl’s – Minimum Order Size of $75, which is one of the higher totals.
  • Target – No Minimum Order Size.
  • Toys R Us – Minimum Order Size of $19.
  • Walmart – $50 Minimum Order Size or a ShippingPass membership, which requires an annual fee of $49.

Best Buy and Target have the best policies, with Kohl’s having the worst. Amazon and Walmart are looking to push their shipping programs, so they are not offering free shipping with no minimum order size this year. While each requires an annual fee, you will receive free two-day shipping, which cannot be said for Best Buy and Target’s free shipping offers.
