Hugh Jackman’s fans are eagerly awaiting the last installment of the Wolverine film series to discover how the mutant superhero’s story will unfold. Hugh Jackman has become a household name, thanks to his portrayal of Wolverine in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movie franchise.

Jackman’s Wolverine has led a life of pain and struggle because, in addition to the loss of his loved ones who died fighting, he must deal with anti-mutants. Wolverine’s ability to heal himself appears to be a curse, because every struggle leaves him with painful emotional traumas, and the pain lingers even though his physical wounds have healed. It’s this aspect of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine that’s piqued the interest of enthusiastic fans.

Jackman is nearing middle age, and recent social media posts have worried fans who feel that the talented actor, singer, dancer has now begun to look his age. Noting his fan’s support, Jackman recently revealed the name and poster of his third Wolverine movie. Speculations about the plot had been raised earlier when a poster showed the hand of a little child holding Wolverine’s clawed hand, and the filmmakers had revealed very little about the cast and storyline.

One of the very few details that had been released was that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is expected to be an elderly character who resorts to alcohol in order to deal with his troubled state of mind. It was also reported that the upcoming movie will show old Logan confronting Mr. Sinister, the Marvel supervillain.

However, the latest reports have revealed further details about Logan. Slash Film now reports that Donald Pierce and Dr. Zander Rice will be the villains in Logan, and the characters will be portrayed by actors Boyd Holbrook and Richard E. Grant. The Daily Mail reports that Boyd Holbrook’s character will be depicted as a powerful mutant-hunting cyborg.

New details about the child featuring in Logan’s movie poster reveal that it’s a girl named Laura, a feral mutant played by Sienna Novikov, who goes by the name of X-23. Hugh Jackman’s Logan will be set in 2024, where the fate of mutants is at stake. Transigen, a covert mission, is aiming to convert mutant children into lethal machines. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the secret operation has mutated Laura into X-23, enabling her to develop powers like Wolverine.

Mutant population is on the decline due to the dramatic fall in mutant birth rates, so despite his diminishing powers and drunkenness, an emotional Logan gears up to take on the anti-mutants one last time. While shouldering all the responsibility, Logan vows to protect X-23 and other mutants while teaming with Professor Charles Xavier, his telepathic mentor.

Hugh Jackman has always been the starring actor in the X-Men series, and leaving the popular franchise in a blaze of glory will be a fitting exit for the actor. Jackman made his debut as Wolverine in the X-Men franchise when he featured in the 2000 movie, X-Men. The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Hugh Jackman’s comments on The Dr. Oz Show reveal that the actor considers his upcoming Wolverine standalone movie will enable him to retire his clawed character in the perfect way.

“It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
