Melissa McCarthy Reveals Secrets To 75-Pound Weight Loss

Melissa McCarthy has just revealed key secrets to her rapid weight loss, according to Foods 4 Better Health. The 46-year-old Gilmore Girls actress has lost 75 pounds this past year, and has just been named the most body positive celebrity, so why not listen to her weight loss tips?

Losing 75 pounds within such a short period surely requires significant lifestyle changes, and Melissa McCarthy has finally revealed exactly what she did to make that happen. McCarthy, who has always said she was fine with her weight, said the main reason she decided to shed the pounds was to become healthier.

Besides becoming healthier, Melissa McCarthy also wants to set a good example for her daughters, six-year-old Georgette and nine-year-old Vivian. The Mike & Molly star revealed that she had to watch her diet carefully and exercise regularly to lose such an impressive amount of weight.

Melissa McCarthy had to stick to a low-carb, high-protein diet and perform vigorous workouts to burn calories and build endurance. But that wasn’t the most challenging part, as the actress revealed the real trick was sticking to a boring life and having to go to bed at 7:30 P.M.

Melissa McCarthy also revealed that apart from following a strict high-protein, low-carb diet, she also had to focus on eating high-fiber foods. So instead of eating pretzels and hot dogs for snacks, she opted for vegetables, fruits, nuts and grains.

The second rule Melissa McCarthy followed, as advised by her personal trainer, was to maintain her insulin at low levels for 12 hours straight for her body to enter the state of ketosis. The third rule was – no surprises here – to drink plenty of water throughout a day.

Melissa McCarthy also insisted that drinking plenty of water made her feel fuller for longer. However, to keep herself full for even more extended periods of time, the Gilmore Girls star had to eat lots of protein.

Just recently, Melissa McCarthy was named the most body positive celebrity. Nearly 2,000 women across the United States participated in a poll and said the comedian actress is the most body positive celebrity, surpassing Oprah and Adele.

Melissa McCarthy has lost 75 pounds in the past year, but she is still believed to make people think more positively about their own bodies. The very first time her fans noticed the extreme change in her weight was when McCarthy walked the red carpet at the TIME 100 Gala in April.

Apart from Melissa McCarthy, the list of body-positive celebrities also includes Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence, and Serena Williams. In fact, plus-size model Ashley Graham topped the list of the most influential body-positive personalities in fashion, while TV actress Mindy Kaling was named the most influential TV celebrity.

In other news, Mike & Molly, which ended its run on May 16, was a huge hit on television. What helped the CBS sitcom become such a huge hit was the fact that Melissa McCarthy and her co-star Billy Gardell hit it off “immediately,” according to Stuff.

When Melissa McCarthy saw Gardell for the first time six years ago, she was still unknown in the entertainment industry. However, they liked each other immediately, and their acting careers have soared after that sitcom.

In her interview with Stuff, Melissa McCarthy revealed that she had been eight and a half months pregnant when she attended a script reading for Mike & Molly six years ago. However, nonetheless, she thought it felt “easy.”

“I was about eight and a half months pregnant and kind of waddled in and we read the script through together just once and I immediately thought, ‘Gosh, that felt easy.'”
