The NBA will be missing another star when the regular season kicks off next month. New York Knicks’ star Amar’e Stoudemire will be out for two to three weeks after rupturing a cyst behind his left knee.

According to USA Today, the issue was discovered on Sunday after Stoudemire underwent an MRI.

Stoudemire has already missed two preseason games with a bruised knee. He returned to the lineup on Friday for a game against the Toronto Raptors but will return to the bench for the next few weeks. Stoudemire won’t miss much of the season but he will miss the season opener against the Brooklyn Nets on November 1 and the home opener against the Miami Heat on November 2.

Stoudemire is just the latest NBA player to get injured before the regular season. Kevin Love recently injured his hand doing knuckle push-ups and will miss 6 to 8 weeks. Dirk Nowitzki will also miss about two months of the season as he recovers from knee surgery. The Chicago Bulls will also be without Derrick Rose who is still recovering from the injury he suffered during the playoffs last year.
