Donald Trump’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star Will Be Restored ASAP Now That He’s Elected President

Donald Trump will have his Hollywood Walk of Fame star fully restored as soon as possible now that he’s headed to the White House, according to the Los Angeles Times. The five-pointed terrazzo and brass star was vandalized on October 26 by a protester. James Otis was later identified to be the millionaire protester who took a sledgehammer to concrete in an attempt to remove the President-elect’s plaque. Otis was arrested and charged with felony vandalism, according to Deadline. Vivian Kish of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said Trump’s star was mostly fixed but still needs to finish drying before it can be polished, according to the Associated Press. It will take up to two weeks until Trump’s star is unveiled at the $30,000 dollar tourist attraction.

Hollywood Historic Trust and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce currently maintain over 2,500 plaques lined up and down the boulevard. The damage of Trump’s star was estimated to be around $2,500 according to police. Otis said he initially intended to remove Trump’s star and auction it off in New York. James claims he wanted to raise funds for the women who accused Trump of sexually assaulting them, according to the International Business Times. For the entertainment industry in Hollywood, Donald Trump wasn’t the preferred presidential candidate.

Trump’s star on Hollywood Boulevard has been blocked while repairs are pending. However, on the night of the Presidential election, Trump’s star was the location of a victory party. The construction did not stop supporters from celebrating his big win on Tuesday night. Early Wednesday morning, a modest crowd of about 30 Trump supporters gathered around the star and posed for photos, according to Breitbart News. Many in the crowd wore red hats adorned with Trump’s campaign slogan while chanting, “Make America Great Again” and “U-S-A” several times.

Two Los Angeles police officers were camped nearby. At one point, the officers moved the excited crowd apart to place the wooden construction materials back on top of the star. The supporters cheered in an attempt to drown out the chants of a small band of counter-protesters.

“This is our President!”

Since Donald Trump announced his presidential bid, his Hollywood Walk of Fame star was defaced with paint and graffiti. A reverse swastika was sprayed on the star in late January. Several months later in July, a small razor wire fence complete with American flags was erected around the star. The artist poked at Trump’s plan to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico if elected. The markings have been cleaned off.

“Whether Trump means it or not is kind of irrelevant because he’s saying the things to people who are hurting. And it’s why every beaten-down, nameless, forgotten working stiff who used to be part of what was called the middle class loves Trump.”

The billionaire developer was honored in 2007 for starring on the hit NBC show, The Apprentice. Executive producer Mark Burnett, Larry King, and former Tonight Show host Jay Leno all spoke at Trump’s Walk of Fame ceremony almost a decade ago, according to the Deadline.
