MacBook Pro 2016 With Touch Bar Starts Shipping For Best Buy Customers

If you are a Best Buy customer who pre-ordered the 13-Inch MacBook Pro for $1,799 before Thursday, you should receive your device on Tuesday at the latest. This can be confirmed through an email and a phone call with Best Buy customer service. Other versions, such as the 13-inch Pro with 16GB RAM or all the 15-inch versions, could also start shipping early next week, but the mid-range 13-inch version is the only one that is confirmed for delivery on Monday or Tuesday.

There is no word when Apple Store customers will start receiving their MacBook Pros, but that could be very soon as well. Digital Trends has the news.

“Apple’s refreshed MacBook Pro with its new Touch Bar, Touch ID support, and thinner chassis has been selling like hotcakes since its announcement on October 27. However, Apple hadn’t yet shipped the machines, leaving buyers with a bit of a lag between pushing the order button and getting satisfaction.”

However, as the article adds, that appears to be changing, as Apple has begun transferring units from the factory to the actual shipping floor. There is a lot of excitement about this on Reddit.

“Can confirm that my order is now in the preparing for shipment stage. Ordered minutes after the keynote. Base 15 inch model with upgraded GPU,” says Legomage.

“My BTO 15 is now preparing to ship as well :),” notes PhillyPhantom.

One of the few people who has been able to spend time with the 15-inch MacBook Pro that has the Touch Bar is impressed. His review is on the Huffington Post.

“First off, It’s really fast. I’ve been using the MacBook Pro with the new version of FCP X and cutting 5k ProRes material all week, it’s buttery smooth. No matter what you think the specs say, the fact is the software and hardware are so well integrated it tears strips off the superior spec’d’ Windows counterparts in the real world,” says columnist Thomas Grove Carter, adding that Touch Bar is a lot more than just a gimmick. Some of the commenters after the article are dismissive of the review.

“Mac lover reviews Mac, finds it good. News at 11,” sarcastically points out Brice A. Campbell.

“You got the latest Mac and its good and fast, well yeah its the latest model? Bit biased? What PC hardware and software are you comparing it to?” asks Daniel Prakash.

The entry-level version of the MacBook Pro, which was was called “slick but overpriced” in an Inquisitr review a couple weeks back, is currently available at stores. This is the version without the Touch Bar, and it sells for $1,499. Tech Radar gives the Apple device four stars.

“It’s not without flaws, but the new 13-inch MacBook Pro is a solid laptop that combines a highly attractive design with snappy storage, a gorgeous display and a trackpad the size of a saucer. But, if you didn’t like the 12-inch MacBook’s shallow keyboard and reliance on USB-C connectivity, this new MacBook is unlikely to convert you.”

The review especially praises the alluring design, the vibrant display, the fast SSD, and the huge trackpad. However, the lack of regular USB ports and the keyboard (which may be too shallow for some) are criticized. Some people think that — once again — Apple is ahead of the curve and more manufacturers will produce similar keyboards.
