Justin Bieber Perfectly Shuts Down Fan’s ‘Personal’ Selena Gomez Question At Concert

Justin Bieber is not here for personal questions from fans about his ex Selena Gomez.

The pop prince politely shut down an invasive question about his former girlfriend during an onstage Q&A at his Purpose World Tour concert in Prague, Czech Republic, on Saturday night (November 12).

Bieber’s surprise Gomez-grilling followed two innocuous questions from fans in the audience on whether he’d be making more R&B music (“Of course”), and if he liked Prague (“Yeah, I like Prague”), the singer replied, adding that he hoped to see more of the city.

Then came the Selena Gomez question.

Somewhat bizarrely, it was a male fan who crossed the personal boundary line when he asked Bieber, “Are you in contact with Selena?”

“Am I contact with Selena?” Justin repeated while the mostly young audience began screaming with excitement.

“That’s a very personal question,” the superstar said, adding, “If we could stick to, like, just regular questions not personal questions… awesome.”

Understandably, the Grammy winner then asked “You wanna talk about your ex-girlfriend? Let’s talk about your ex-girlfriend.”

There was only one more question after that blip, and it’s possible the “Sorry” singer’s enthusiasm to go on with the Q&A’s dipped after the Gomez question.

Take a look at the awkward moment on the video below.

Some Bieber fans were outraged on his behalf over the fan’s personal question. Many took to Twitter express that. These can be summed up by the tweets of two popular Bieber update accounts.

The mild ruffle, which has inevitably become a media story, comes after a wave of false claims about Bieber and Gomez hitting the gossip new cycle.

Let’s tackle the most far-fetched claim first. In Touch magazine’s latest “Jelena” story alleges Gomez and Bieber will soon be getting married.

Suffice it to say, fans of either star are already aware that the “Secret Jelena Wedding” claim is bogus.

But for those laboring under the illusion that tabloids always report the truth, the rumor-busting website Gossip Cop has confirmed Bieber and Gomez have absolutely no plans to walk down any aisles any time soon.

Gossip Cop reports, “Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are NOT getting married, despite a report from the tabloids about a ‘secret wedding.”

The site also slammed the story as “completely fabricated,” adding that “the marriage and ‘secret wedding’ claims are tabloid fantasy, and aren’t worth an ounce of belief.”

It’s worth repeating that Gossip Cop didn’t just say In Touch’s “Jelena” marriage claim was wrong or inaccurate. The outlet outright slammed the story as “completely fabricated.”

The reality that a sizeable percentage of tabloids and gossip websites knowingly publish fiction masquerading as legitimate news may be shocking to some readers. In fact, it happens daily.

One only has to look at some of the false historical and current clickbait-chasing celebrity news stories which are designed to generate traffic for media sites, to realize entertainment news has an endemic credibility problem.

Back to In Touch’s impending Bieber-Gomez wedding story. Since it’s been confirmed that the story is false, it is important to highlight that the following statements by an alleged source in the magazine’s article are baseless.

“Justin reached out to Selena a few weeks ago while she was in rehab,” a [supposed] “source” told In Touch. “She was surprised to hear from him, but soon they were talking all the time.”

The rag added, “the two are moving quickly with their relationship — both literally and figuratively.”

This was followed by a claim that “Justin suggested moving away from LA, and the source says, ‘Selena was all for it — as long as Justin proposes.'”

In Touch writes, “Despite not having her family’s blessing for the nuptials, Sel is ready to move forward with the union.

“Selena will get married in private, just to show them she doesn’t need their approval,” the mag’s misinformed or non-existent “source” added.

As it turned out, every single one of those supposed “source” quotes was fake. Given In Touch’s track record for reporting made-up stories, it’s a tough sell to believe the notorious outlet didn’t know the Bieber-Gomez wedding story was baseless.

It’s not the only “Jelena” falsehood doing the rumor mill rounds. Celeb Now magazine’s recent claim that Bieber is supposedly paying for Gomez’s lupus-related stay in a Nashville, Tennessee rehab was quickly publicly blasted by a Gomez source as “untrue.”

Similarly, ITech Post’s bizarre and vaguely-stated claim that Bieber somehow slipped away unnoticed from his high profile Purpose Tour to visit Gomez in rehab is also false.

Clearly, these fabricated stories are part of a gossip site-driven attempt to pin the “blame” for Gomez’s rehab stay on Bieber.

This is despite Team Gomez announcing back in August that the actress-singer would be canceling the rest of her Revival Tour and entering rehab due to lupus-caused anxiety, depression, and panic attacks.

At the time, Gomez stated, “I’ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.”

The starlet’s rehab retreat is also said to have been triggered by the murder of her friend, The Voice US contestant Christina Grimmie, 22, who was shot and killed by a stalker during a meet-and-greet at a show in Orlando, Florida in June this year.

There have also been persistent rumors since Gomez’s first rehab stint back in January 2014 that the Latina has long-standing substance abuse problems.

Tabloids, gossip sites, and blogs remain eager to rope the Biebs into his ex-girlfriend’s issues even though it’s been over two years since they last officially dated.

One of the most obvious examples of this is the tone of the media coverage of the pair’s Instagram clash back in August, which mostly ignored the fact that no-one asked Gomez to interfere in an already fraught situation.

Most media reports also downplayed Gomez subsequently spending hours “liking” multiple fan-posted Instagram memes which shaded Bieber. Some even referenced his relationship with Richie. Also, there was little to no mention of Selena’s own threat to delete her Instagram account earlier this year following fans’ drama.

All of which should leave most readers in no doubt about the contrived nature of the rumor mill’s narrative that Gomez’s lupus-related rehab stay is partly down to the Biebs. Even if the starlet was affected by her run-in with her ex on Instagram, it was clearly her decision to get involved.

To recap: Bieber and Gomez are not getting married. The Canadian isn’t paying for Selena’s rehab time-out, and he hasn’t visited the facility. As always, the Inquisitr urges readers to consider the source before believing gossip.
