‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’ Season finale: Here’s How Sarah Paulson Will Be Returning To ‘AHS Roanoke’ Episode 10

The trailer has aired for the season finale of FX’s American Horror Story: Roanoke and it has raised more questions than you would think possible, considering the clip only ran for 20 seconds. So, what will really happen in Episode 10 of AHS Roanoke?

Spoiler alert: This article discusses FX’s American Horror Story: Roanoke. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

Episode 9 of American Horror Story: Roanoke revealed all the characters except for Lee (Adina Porter) and the Uber guy, Rhett Snow (Billy Snow), are now dead. Lee only managed to escape with her life after Scathach gave her the heart of a pig to eat. This led to her killing Monet (Angela Basset) and attempting to kill Audrey (Sarah Paulson) before she was rescued by the police when they appeared at the Roanoke house the next day. Considering Lee has now made a deal with Scathach and sealed it by eating the pig’s heart, where will this take her in the season finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke?

Previously, the creator of American Horror Story, Ryan Murphy, has stated AHS Roanoke will be broken up into three distinct parts.

“It’s like [episodes] 1-5, 6-9, and 10 is its own thing,” he originally told Entertainment Weekly.

Episodes 1-5 were considered the My Roanoke Nightmare section, where the audience was introduced to the real characters and the actors portraying them. These episodes concentrated on telling the story of the Roanoke house and the lost colony via the My Roanoke Nightmare documentary format. Episodes 6-9 then dealt with the fact that the production company behind My Roanoke Nightmare were returning with a new show, Return to Roanoke: Three Days in Hell. This new series pitted the real characters as well as the actors that played them, against each other when they returned to the house once more on the Blood Moon.

The final episode has yet to be revealed, so it is unclear how this episode will stand alone as well as combine with the previous episodes in Season 6 of AHS. However, a trailer for the season finale episode has aired, and it seems to leave more questions than answers in regard to Episode 10.

You can view the trailer for Chapter 10 of American Horror Story: Roanoke below.

The clip shows Lee with longer hair, indicating this episode of American Horror Story could take place after both My Roanoke Nightmare and Return to Roanoke. It also reveals Sarah Paulson is back, even though viewers saw her Roanoke character, Audrey, die in Episode 9. So what does that even mean?

According to the short clip, Sarah Paulson will be returning to AHS Roanoke as a previous AHS character, Lana Winters. Fans of AHS Asylum will remember Lana as the main character from that season. But how can Sarah Paulson return as another character in Roanoke when it was very obvious her character died in the previous episode?

While viewers can believe the reality of seeing a character and an actor playing that character in American Horror Story, it is a bit harder to believe an actor dying and then returning to the show as another character. So how will FX get away with it?

In the clip for Episode 10, Lana Winters describes Lee as, “equally reviled and celebrated.” She then goes on to say that Lee is, “one of the most provocative and polarizing figures of our time.” During the promo for the season finale of American Horror Story, Lana announces she will be going live for an interview with Lee on The Lana Winters Special.

Could the longer hair on Lee be a decoy to make viewers believe the final episode of American Horror Story: Roanoke will also appear as the third part of the series? After all, if Lee were to grow her hair longer after My Roanoke Nightmare, there would still be plenty of time from when production wraps up to production beginning on Return to Roanoke for her to grow it longer and then cut it again for the second series.

So, could the season finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke really be the Lana Winters special interview with Lee before she returns to do Return to Roanoke?

However, this still doesn’t explain how two characters — Audrey and Lana Winters — are obviously played by the one actor. Earlier in the season, the Inquisitr predicted Roanoke would reveal that all previous seasons of American Horror Story could have their own documentaries like Roanoke’s My Roanoke Nightmare. This helped to explain how each season could be connected and how the same actors played different characters each time. Is this is how FX will explain away Lana Winters turning up in the season finale of American Horror Story: Roanoke?

Only by tuning into Episode 10 will the answers finally be revealed.
