Veterans Day Free Food Deals: Free Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner For Vets, Active Military At These Popular Restaurants


Restaurants across the nation are honoring veterans and active members of the U.S. Military with free food on Veterans Day, November 11, 2016. For years, chain restaurants like Applebee’s, Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel, and Denny’s have offered a free or discounted meal for vets, and this year even more of our nation’s most popular eateries are joining in to say “thanks for your service” to vets and the brave men and women who are still serving our country.

Many of the Veterans Day food freebies listed below are valid only on Friday, November 11, but some restaurants are extending their offer throughout the three-day holiday weekend. Keep in mind, there’s a chance you will have to wait in line, but you will be in good company with dozens of other veterans.

According to USA Today, most businesses will require proof of military service or a military ID to redeem a Veterans Day food offer, so make sure you bring that along with you when you head out to score a free or discounted appetizer, a breakfast, lunch or dinner entree, or simply a free cup of coffee.

Applebee’s: Choose a free meal (dine-in only) from a special Veterans Day menu that includes the All-In Burger, Butcher’s Meat and Potatoes, Three-Cheese Chicken Cavatapi, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Chicken Tenders Platter, Double Crunch Shrimp, or Oriental Chicken Salad. Tip not included, no coupons allowed.

Bob Evans: One free breakfast item from special Veterans Day menu that includes Brioche French Toast, Mini Sampler, Sunrise, Buttermilk or Multigrain Hotcakes, or a Country Biscuit Breakfast. This offer is for dine-in only.

Denny’s: Free build-your-own Grand Slam breakfast on Friday from 5 a.m. to Noon.

On the Border: Stop by for a free lunch combo plate on Friday, November 11. Valid for dine-in only.

Olive Garden: This popular restaurant chain will offer a free entree from a special Veterans Day menu. Each entree is served with unlimited soup or house salad and breadsticks.

Chili’s: Choose a free lunch combo or dinner from a select menu. Valid at participating Chili’s restaurants in the U.S., dine-in only. This offer does not include beverages or tip. Veterans and active duty military must show proof of military service.

Golden Corral: This restaurant chain isn’t offering a Veterans Day freebie on Friday, but it is hosting a Military Appreciation Night on Monday, November 14. Stop by between 5-9 p.m. for a free “thank you dinner” with proof of military service.

IHOP: Once again, this popular breakfast chain is offering veterans and active military free Red, White, and Blue pancakes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Some locations are also offering a Red, White and Blue pancakes combo plate that includes eggs, bacon, and hash browns.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Get a free order of wings and a side of fries with proof of military service. If you don’t have your military ID, your server will accept a veteran’s card or a photograph of yourself in military uniform. This offer is for dine-in only.

Friendly’s: Stop by your local Friendly’s on Friday for a free breakfast, lunch, or dinner entree. Choose from the Big To-Do for breakfast or an All-American Burger for lunch. This offer is valid for veterans and active military who bring a valid military ID or honorable discharge card.

Hooters: All vets and active military can stop by for a free meal from a special Veterans Day menu. You must purchase a drink to get this freebie.

Red Lobster: Veterans, active duty military, and reservists can stop by for a free appetizer or dessert with a valid military ID on both November 10 and 11.

Cracker Barrel: Show proof of military service and get a free slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake.

Spaghetti Warehouse: This chain is offering a Buy 1 Get 1 entree free deal from Friday, November 11 through Sunday, November 13 with this coupon. The offer includes 15 Layer Lasagne or World Famous Spaghetti and Meatballs. Coupon states that a military ID is not required.

Krispy Kreme: Get a free donut and a small cup of coffee at participating Krispy Kreme locations on Friday, November 11. Offer valid for all active-duty military and veterans. Not valid at drive-thru, one freebie per customer.
