Kylie Jenner Makes Surprise Announcement After Koko Kollection Sells Out In Minutes

Today marked yet another first in Kylie Jenner’s lip kit line as the teen launched her Koko Kollection, a collaboration featuring big sister Khloe Kardashian.

Jenner announced the collaboration within the past week, saying the launch would be today, November 9, at 3 p.m. PST. She and Khloe generated excitement for the collection through multiple social media posts displaying the gold packaging and vibrant lip colors, which may help explain why it sold out in just five minutes, according to Jenner’s SnapChat.

Kylie was live on SnapChat minutes before the launch, even taking over Khloe’s account to generate hype for the collaboration. The 19-year-old modeled a few different shades from the collection, including the vibrant fuchsia known as “Okurrr.”

Kylie started off by announcing how many people were on the site just minutes before the launch. She said it went from 90,000 users to over 116,000 within a minute of going live. Luckily, the site didn’t crash as it had during previous peak times. Within five minutes of its launch, the Koko Kollection was sold out.

However, if you weren’t one of the lucky few to get their hands on the four newest lip shades, don’t worry! Kylie came back with a surprise announcement saying the collection will be released one more time by “popular demand.” Jenner told fans via SnapChat to comment a blue heart emoji on her Kylie Cosmetics Instagram page if they wanted her to bring back the Koko Kollection again, and blue hearts quickly filled the comments on her page.

The three matte lipsticks and gloss set is currently selling for $40, which is a bargain compared to Kylie’s other lipstick prices. Her regular lip kits sell for $29, while fans can opt for a matte single— without the matching lip liner— for $17. This puts the Koko Kollection as one of the best-priced items Kylie has launched through her cosmetics line.

Also, she is offering free shipping through the holidays on orders over $40. This is a deal in itself as Kylie Cosmetics shipping costs are known to be steep, like $9 steep.

The Koko Kollection is a mix of nudes, pinks, and a deep burgundy color, which gives something for everyone. Kylie’s website goes into detail on each of the new colors, providing information on both the pigment and formula.

“Okurrr is a vibrant fuchsia, Gorg is a red burgundy wine, Khlo$ is a cool yellow nude, and Damn Gina is a soft shimmering peachy-pink gloss.”

With descriptors such as shimmering, soft, moisturizing, long-wearing, and comfortable, it’s not a surprise so many fans jumped at the chance to score this limited-edition set.

Khloe and Jordyn Woods, one of Kylie’s many model friends, took to showing off the latest shades in anticipation of the release. Customers were able to see how the four colors compliment various skin tones as the women modeled the Koko Kollection.

Kylie began her lip kit line a year ago with the release of her three first shades: Dolce K, True Brown K, and Candy K. Since then, Jenner has made amazing marketing decisions to ensure her lip kit line success. In addition to announcing a highly anticipated collaboration with Khloe, Kylie has capitalized on her fans’ admiration of her cosmetics by including Kyliner (eye liner) and Kyshadow palettes (eye shadow.)

She also released a limited-edition birthday bundle in August, which sold for almost $200. Each time Jenner announces a new product or lip kit shade, it’s safe to assume it will sell out within minutes of hitting her site. Now, she is teasing a store front for Kylie Cosmetics as her brand continues to expand. If today’s Koko Kollection is any indicator, it seems Kylie Cosmetics is here to stay.
