Green Bay Packers: Keys To Victory In NFL Week 10 Vs. Titans

The Green Bay Packers are heading into a virtual must-win situation in NFL Week 10 action against the Tennessee Titans. After falling at home to the Indianapolis Colts in embarrassing fashion, the Packers cannot afford to drop to 4-5 on the season if they want to be considered serious contenders in the NFC.

Simply looking at the NFC North, the Packers cannot afford to fall much further behind the Minnesota Vikings or the surging Detroit Lions. Green Bay has many issues at this point in the season, but Mike McCarthy has to figure out a way to fix them.

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense has not looked very good this season. They have been inconsistent, which has come back to bite them in a couple of their losses. Defensively, the Packers have improved this season, but it has not resulted in the success in the win column that they had hoped.

Needless to say, this week is a major game for the Packers. If they can come out with a convincing win, perhaps that will be what they need to get their season back on track.

All of that being said, what keys must the Green Bay Packers focus on in order to pull out a big win in NFL Week 11 against the Titans?

Aaron Rodgers Must Take Leadership Role

Following last week’s game against the Colts, Aaron Rodgers made it clear that he was frustrated with his teammates. This week, Rodgers must take a major leadership role as the face of the franchise and push his teammates. Rodgers has to take control of his team this week and lead them to a victory.

Green Bay Must Continue Trusting the Ground Game

Even though Eddie Lacy is still on injured reserve, the Packers have found a major playmaker in Ty Montgomery. Over the past few games that Montgomery has played, he has shown he can be an effective running back. Green Bay must trust the running game and use it to take pressure off of Rodgers.

Marcus Mariota Must Be Contained

If the Packers want to come away with a convincing win this week, containing Marcus Mariota is a must. Tennessee has seen their second-year quarterback make major strides this season. Green Bay must put pressure on him, keep him in the pocket, and limit big plays from the talented quarterback.

Mike McCarthy’s Coaching Must Show Improvement

There have been a lot of issues with Mike McCarthy’s coaching this season, and Bleacher Report has mentioned that he could be on the hot seat. He has to show improvement this week both with his play-calling as well as his approach to games with a big lead. McCarthy has always been a cautious play-caller when he has the lead, which has led to tough losses and near loss experiences, which can’t continue happening.

Jordy Nelson Must Continue Making a Big Impact

Green Bay’s offense is much more dangerous when Jordy Nelson is making a big impact. He is one of Rodgers’ most trusted targets but has been inconsistent this season in his return from a torn ACL. Nelson must have a big game this week against the Titans’ defense, and the Packers will rely on him heavily.

Expect to see the Green Bay Packers come out looking to prove a point this week. They are not happy with the way that they played last week and have not been happy with their play all season long. Green Bay has to get back on track this week and will bring everything they have to do just that.
