Will This Long List Of Celebrities Really Move to Canada Now That Donald Trump Is President?

As the 2016 presidential election rolled on, complaints came out about both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton with many voicing their displeasure. Throughout their campaigns, many celebrities came out and publicly said they would move to Canada if Trump were to actually win this election and end up in the White House. Well, that’s exactly what happened, and now the question remains — when are those celebrities moving north?

Now, it’s true that some of the threats made to move to Canada or any other country may have been made as nothing more than comedy. For instance, People reported how Jon Stewart said he “would consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet.” While he may not want to be in the U.S. any longer, that method of action isn’t exactly feasible.

At the same time, iconic singer Cher has made her words no secret thanks to social media and she stated she would move to Jupiter if he was elected president.

So, it may not always be Canada, but numerous celebs are ready to head out to somewhere — anywhere.

Perhaps one of the biggest critics against Donald Trump is comedienne Amy Schumer who has voiced her displeasure with him on numerous occasions. She talked about having to change her act and needing to learn to speak Spanish due to having to head to Spain or somewhere else in the world.

Schumer told BBC Newsnight that it would be far beyond the comprehension of her or anyone if Donald Trump were to win the presidency. Well, comprehension has now been left far behind if those words are to ring true.

Author Stephen King had tweeted out a number of his comments and thoughts throughout the election. He also said he would move to Canada if the election results were what he feared they would be. After the results were in early on Wednesday morning, King had very little to say.

Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad fame is a fantastic actor and one who has long entertained audiences around the world. Well, with the results of the presidential election, he’s one of the celebrities that may now end up calling Canada home.

Whoopi Goldberg has become a bit of a voice of reason for so many people due to her time on screen, on the stand-up stage, and as a co-host of The View. Breitbart reported that back in January, she was one of the celebrities who were prepared to change their residency if Trump were to win and now, it’s time to see if she lives up to them.

Goldberg said she didn’t care what party he was running for, but she said he isn’t the president she wants and she was prepared to do something about it. “Maybe it’s time for me to move, you know,” said Goldberg in January. “I can afford to go.”

Actress and Girls creator Lena Dunham recently said that her threats to leave the country and move to Canada were not just talk and something she truly planned to do. She didn’t believe that Trump would win the presidency, but she still said she would own up to her words, according to Deadline.

“I know a lot of people have been threatening to do this, but I really will. I know a lovely place in Vancouver and I can get my work done from there.”

As reported by Mirror, Miley Cyrus has been one of the most outspoken celebrities against Donald Trump and how much she can’t stand him. Earlier this year, she wrote a profanity-laced tirade on Instagram which simply ended with “I am moving if this is my president! I don’t say things I don’t mean!”

Looking at others on the same train to Canada, numerous celebrities have said they would head out of the United States if the 2016 presidential election ended up as it did. Other celebrities who have thrown out that threat to head to Canada include the following.

  • Al Sharpton
  • Neve Campbell
  • Barbara Streisand
  • Natasha Lyonne
  • John Lopez
  • Chelsea Handler
  • Rosie O’Donnell
  • Samuel L. Jackson
  • Ne-Yo
  • Raven-Symone
  • Larry Flynn
  • Eddie Griffin
  • Keegan-Michael Key

Donald Trump is indeed the President-elect of the United States after his long and hard-fought victory over Hillary Clinton. Many said they wouldn’t have him as the leader of their country, but enough people felt he deserved the spot. Now, some may see the words of celebrities who said they would move to Canada as nothing but outspoken threats that meant nothing. Trump supporters are now stepping up and waiting for them to fulfill their promises.
