Angelina Jolie Says Brad Pitt Can Have Joint Custody When He Gets His Anger, Boozing And ‘S**t Together’

Angelina Jolie’s divorce with Brad Pitt isn’t going to end anytime soon. A month after filing for divorce, the actress declined her estranged husband’s appeal for joint custody and only allows him access to the kids during “monitored” visits.

An inside source told Radar Online that Jolie will grant Pitt joint custody when he “gets his s**t together.” The actor has been plagued with rumors of child abuse after an incident on a private plane in September. Witnesses claim that Pitt was verbally and physically abusive to their oldest son, Maddox.

Jolie filed for divorce soon after the incident, and the pair agreed to a temporary custody plan. The plan gave Jolie physical custody of the six children and allowed Pitt to visit under strict supervision. The World War Z star also agreed to periodic drug and alcohol tests.

According to E! News, Jolie took a hard stance against Pitt because she was worried about the safety of the kids. The couple, who have been together for nearly a decade, have six children together – Maddox (15), Pax (12), Zahara (11), Shiloh (10), and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

“We can confirm that childcare professionals have encouraged a legal agreement accepted and signed by both sides over a week ago,” Jolie’s rep explained. “In accordance with this agreement, the six children will stay in their mother’s custody, and the children will continue therapeutic visits with their father. This has been determined by childcare professionals to be in the children’s best interest.”

The statement did not release any details about the agreement or why Jolie felt the need to protect her children.

The statement did not release any details about the agreement or why Jolie felt the need to protect her children.

“We are not in a position to discuss the details. We hope now that it is clear that the events which led to the dissolution filing involved minor children and their well-being, there will be understanding of the sensitivity of the family situation,” the rep continued. “We believe that all sides are committed to healing the family and ask for your consideration during this difficult time.”

Pitt is currently under investigation by family services for the altercation on the private plane. Of course, a source close to Pitt says that he “did not commit any abuse” during the incident and that he was extremely unhappy with the report.

The actor has visited his children on two different occasions since the breakup. Maddox was present during the second visit but reportedly left soon after meeting with Pitt.

“I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time,” Pitt said about the split.

While it sounds like Pitt just needs to get his act together to obtain joint custody, TMZ reports that Angelina Jolie isn’t going to give up the fight that easy. Pitt just filed a legal request for joint custody, and Jolie countered that he must get help for his substance abuse and anger problems before an agreement is reached.

Although Jolie has the upper hand for now, People is reporting that Pitt’s latest move could prolong the divorce. The request for joint custody might also indicate that Pitt is willing to fight for his rights as a father and isn’t ready to give in just yet.

“It could mean is that settlement negotiations are maybe breaking down… or maybe she just insisted that he file a response [to the divorce],” Christopher Melcher, a divorce attorney, shared. “If Brad is unhappy with the time Angelina is giving him with the kids, because she is really in control of that right now, then it’s on him to go to court and ask for a custody order.”

Until the matter is resolved in court, the kids remain under Jolie’s care. The actress has even canceled all of her projects and is focusing on the well-being of the children until the divorce drama calms down.

“She’s canceled everything else – work, everything. She’s been home each day, supporting them, helping them with homework, been there constantly. And no, this isn’t with a big staff of nannies and helpers.”

As for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services case against Pitt, the organization is putting the actor under a close review to determine if he has been abusive towards family members in the past.

“[The DCFS is] looking for a history or pattern of behavior. They are looking at the original inciting incident and anything surrounding that, and looking at any relevant history,” a source explained.

It isn’t clear what will happen in the investigation and whether or not the DCFS will clear Pitt of all wrongdoing.

In the meantime, fans can rest assured that the divorce drama between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie is only just getting started.
