‘I Hear Voices And Push People In Front Of Trains,’ Woman Shoved To Her Death In New York Station

Melanie Turner has been charged for pushing a woman in front of a train in New York, NY Post is reporting. According to eyewitnesses, Melanie Turner, 30 had been arguing with Connie Watton, a 49-year-old woman at the Times Square 42nd Street station.

The two women, who police say did not know each other prior to the incident, were both standing on the platform around 1:20 p.m. when the 30-year-old violently shoved Watton onto the train tracks, where she was struck by an incoming train and died at the scene.

A Metropolitan Transportation Authority worker said Turner looked satisfied after shoving Watton in front of the subway train.

“About five minutes ago, 20 police officers escorted her out…Her head was up—kinda proud of what she did.”

In a Facebook post, another subway passenger, who was there when the incident occurred, revealed she saw Turner being led away by police looking “like she didn’t give a damn.”

Last month, Melanie Turner lied to police officers that she pushed a German woman in front of a train at the Union Square station. Eyewitnesses said they saw the woman jump in front of the train, adding that she was not pushed by anyone. It was later established that the 19-year old had committed suicide after a painful breakup with a boyfriend.

A police source said even though a motive had not been established in the Times Square 42nd Street station incident, there was the likelihood that maybe Turner actually went ahead with pushing someone so that she could be believed.

“Maybe that’s what inspired her to do what she did today.”

The 30-year-old went through a psychiatric exam at the Bellevue Hospital after her bizarre claims that she killed the German woman. It was discovered that she had a lengthy history of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Her boyfriend, Olief Wilson, said his girlfriend had left their residence to go shopping in Brooklyn.

Manhattan Police Department chief, William Aubry, said they were still looking at surveillance videos and talking to witnesses.

“We have a lot of work to…we are looking at videos now and we’re trying to capture the perpetrator and also the victim as they’re entering into the train station.”

Melanie Turner’s last post before the incident was on “the dangers of the last days,” inferring that people would only love themselves and money.

“In the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will only themselves and their money.”

This is not the first time that someone has been fatally pushed in front of a train. In 2014, Kevin Darden shoved Wai Kuen Kwok onto train tracks. The 36-year-old is currently awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to manslaughter in the death of the 61-year-old.

In December 2012, Ki Suck Han was pushed in front a train by Naeem Davis. The 30-year-old Times Square drifter was charged in the death of the 58-year-old. His case is still in court. In another unprovoked attack, Sunando Sen was pushed by Erika Menendez. The 33-year-old got 24 years imprisonment for killing Sen, 46.

The Times Square 42nd Street station is one of New York’s bustling transit stops. The transit station serves over 66 million riders every year, averaging 200,000 every day. Ten subway lines congregate on the station as well as carry on to Grand Central Station.

Two hours after the incident occurred, emergency responders were painstakingly still trying to remove Connie Watton’s body from the tracks. The train operator, a 20-year-old veteran was taken to hospital to receive treatment for emotional trauma.

Dozens of people are hit by subway trains in New York every year. Many of the incidents are unintentional, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which manages the system.

Melanie Turner had told police, “I hear voices. I push people in front of trains.”

However, in yet another twist, some witnesses have said Watton jumped off the platform just as Turner entered the station.

Melanie Turner has been charged with second-degree murder.
