NBA Trade Rumors: Chicago Bulls A Possible Destination For Brook Lopez

Brook Lopez to the Chicago Bulls remains a possibility according to some of the NBA trade rumors that are in circulation. The Bulls could come up with a deal for the Brooklyn Nets if the Nets decide to put Brook Lopez on the NBA trade market. As of now, the Bulls are reportedly looking to put together an offer for the Nets to ponder, in an effort to become a true force in the Eastern Conference.

According to Sportsrageous, the Chicago Bulls will be one of the NBA teams looking into acquiring Brook Lopez from the Brooklyn Nets. It will be interesting how things will work out.

The Bulls will be open to the idea of creating a family reunion in Chicago if the price is right. It would be a reunion because the Bulls already have Brook Lopez’s twin brother Robin in the fold. He is the Bulls’ starting center. If the Bulls were to put together a trade for Brook Lopez, it is likely for him to be the starter at power forward.

Adding Brook Lopez would absolutely give the Bulls a big frontcourt, that if it were to gel, could be the best in the NBA. That would be a factor which the Bulls will consider while gauging Brook Lopez’s availability.

As good as Brook Lopez can be, there is always room for improvement. The center is an excellent low-post player, with some good moves to score inside. To go along with his inside game, Brook Lopez has shown some added range on his jumper. Three-point shooting is something that he is beginning to showcase.

So far, Brook Lopez is 7-21 from distance. Not bad for a 7-foot center who came into the NBA with an inconsistent shot outside of 15-feet.

Improvements made to his jump shot has increased Lopez’s value around the league. And perhaps it could make the Nets deem him untouchable also. Teams such as the Bulls cannot help but take notice at his progression.

Despite the additions Lopez have made to his game, he still has a ways to go. Rebounding and defense is where he still needs some work.

Getting with a different team could make all the change in the world. Brook Lopez has always been a questionable rebounder, but put him on the Chicago Bulls, with his brother Robin and that could make a difference.

The Bulls present an intriguing case for a player like Brook Lopez to succeed. Potentially playing for the Bulls, alongside his brother allows Brook Lopez to focus on his offensive abilities. Because the Bulls have shown the knack for crashing the boards early on in the season, it can become an attitude that he adopts.

The Bulls, while not being a great defensive team, can play solid team defense at times. Robin Lopez and Taj Gibson anchor the interior defense. Adding Brook Lopez to the mix would give the Bulls a solid rotation of lengthy players to throw at opposing teams.

An honest question must be raised. Can the Chicago Bulls put together a deal feasible for the Brooklyn Nets?

ESPN is reporting that the Nets have been taking calls regarding Brook Lopez’s availability. They are not poised to do anything yet. The Nets would love to acquire a first round draft pick in next year’s draft. Truthfully, it will take a little more than a pick for the Bulls, or anyone else to pry him out of their grasps.

The Chicago Bulls could be interested in Brook Lopez. There are plenty of reasons and NBA trade rumors that suggest they are. Clearly, the Bulls will have to give up a lot.

Any trade offer the Bulls put on the table for Lopez must begin with Nikola Mirotic. Mirotic might not be a player the Bulls are willing to part ways with. A deal consisting of Mirotic, Jerian Grant, and Bobby Portis would get a trade done. On paper, it seems like too much to give up.

If the Bulls want to add a frontcourt player it may be best that they monitor the Houston Rockets and how they handle the Donatas Motiejunas situation. Houston has not signed Motiejunas yet. In fact, they only have a couple of weeks to lock him into a contract or carry his cap hold on their books for the remainder of the season. The Rockets cannot trade Motiejunas if he remains unsigned after November 23.

For what the Chicago Bulls need in a frontcourt player Motiejunas is a good fit, without the price tag. That still should not deter the Bulls and their efforts in going after Brook Lopez. He may not be as realistic of an option for the Bulls right now.

A potential reunion could take place on the Chicago Bulls if they can convince the Brooklyn Nets to trade them Brook Lopez. Do not expect anything to happen just yet. The Bulls may have to look at other frontcourt options for now. And if the Bulls are patient enough, a better fit may land in their laps.
