Bradley Cooper’s Upcoming Directorial Debut With Lady Gaga, Honors Late Father In Unique Way

Bradley Cooper recently attended the Ghetto Film School’s Benefit held at Brian Grazer’s home. The purpose of the event was to raise money to fund the education of young and promising filmmakers who can’t afford to pursue their professional dreams. During the event, the attendees recalled their directorial ventures from their school days, and according to Vanity Fair, Bradley Cooper spoke about his experience while working on a high school documentary.

“We made this fake documentary and shot it all in our high school. And got caught smoking cigarettes. Our football coach came in and was like, ‘What the h*ll is going on? Oh, you’re making a movie? You’re allowed to smoke.'”

Although he became famous by working in films like American Sniper, Bradley Cooper still wanted to direct a Hollywood film. And now, he’s on the verge of fulfilling his dream, because it looks like he’ll be directing A Star is Born, a Warner Bros movie in which he’ll be starring with Lady Gaga.

In his book Bradley Cooper: The Whirlwind Life of an Ultimate Leading Man, author Cassey Wakefield describes Cooper as a man of tremendous perseverance and it appears that determination has played a major role in, not only helping him excel in his career, but also in overcoming his addiction to alcohol and drugs. On a personal level, the talented actor has proven he’s a tough fighter by beating his addiction to alcohol and drugs.

At a low point in his career, Cooper’s career was affected by his reliance on alcohol and painkillers, and he revealed that he used his addiction as an escape from his insecurities. However, Cooper has the courage and successfully faced the challenge of overcoming his addiction. Since then, Bradley Cooper has delivered excellent performances in movies like The Hangover, American Hustle, and Silver Lining Playbook.

Bradley Cooper may enjoy the glory of being Hollywood’s leading actor, but the American Sniper actor is still pained by the loss of his father to lung cancer. Like others who’ve lost loved ones to a terminal illness, Bradley Cooper faced frustration and helplessness while dealing with his father’s lung cancer.

Cooper’s pain stems from the fact that he was unable to save his ailing father, despite channeling all his energy and resources to help him recuperate. To overcome the frustration of his helplessness, Bradley Cooper has now embarked on a mission to accelerate the research work that’s being undertaken to fight cancer. Recently, he attended the launch of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, trying to make the audience aware of the stress and emotional turmoil faced by families of cancer patients, while at the same time understanding that many families are not able to help loved ones because they simply can’t afford expensive medical care and treatments.

Bradley Cooper’s willingness to help fight this disease was applauded when the actor declared that he’s teaming up with philanthropist, Sean Parker, to launch an initiative that will contribute to maintaining a cancer patient’s quality of life throughout their treatment.

Besides launching the new initiative, Bradley Cooper is also raising awareness about cancer while going out in public. Just Jared reports that the talented actor was spotted wearing a white “Stand Up To Cancer” t-shirt while jogging in Los Angeles.
