Baylor Bears Vs. Oklahoma Sooners: Bold Predictions For Week 11 Of 2016 College Football Season

The college football spotlight will be on the Baylor Bears and Oklahoma Sooners when they take the field against one another in Week 11 of the 2016 season. With that in mind, both teams need an absolute miracle if they plan on making the College Football Playoff. In fact, the Big 12 Conference in general needs a miracle if it plans on crashing the playoff party.

After all, the Sooners are at the top of the conference standings with a perfect 6-0 record. However, their overall record is 7-2. In this day and age, a one-loss team can still easily make the playoff, but we have yet to see a two-loss team crash the party. Of course, we have only witnessed two playoffs so far.

Oklahoma, who is one of the hottest teams in the nation, will be going up against the 6-2 Bears. While the Sooners have now won six games in a row, the Bears are coming off of back-to-back losses.

Oklahoma might be the best team the Big 12 has to offer right now, but the team has a brutal schedule down the stretch. The Sooners will finish off the regular season against the West Virginia Mountaineers, who own a 7-1 record, and the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who are 7-2.

If Baylor pulls off the road upset, then the Big 12 title race will receive quite the shake-up in the process.

Before the Big 12 madness begins, let’s unleash three bold predictions for Baylor vs. Oklahoma.

Baker Mayfield Records Six Total Touchdowns

Baker Mayfield is playing on a different level right now. Oklahoma’s quarterback has racked up — wait for it — 19 touchdowns in the past four games. Also, he has 31 passing touchdowns in 2016.

Not only is Oklahoma averaging 44.1 points per game, which is good enough for seventh-best in the country in that category, but Baylor is giving up a grand total of 25 points per contest. Not to mention, the Bears gave up 62 points against the TCU Horned Frogs in their last battle.

While the Sooners had a rocky start to their season (lost two of three to begin the year), Oklahoma is playing elite football once again, and Mayfield has the goods to torch any defense in the nation.

Seth Russell Drops Three Touchdowns In The Second Half

Seth Russell is more than capable of matching Mayfield’s performance, and he is certainly more than capable of dropping three touchdowns in the second half against Oklahoma. For the record, Russell has 19 passing touchdowns and eight rushing touchdowns in 2016.

As a team, Baylor is putting up 39.8 points per game, and Oklahoma, well, let’s just say Oklahoma hasn’t been very stingy on the defensive side of the ball. The team is allowing 31.6 points per game. Needless to say, we could be in store for quite the shootout when these two teams take the field against one another.

The First Team To 50 Comes Up Victorious

While 50 points might be pushing it a bit, it also might not be enough. 50 points wasn’t enough when Oklahoma knocked off the Texas Tech Red Raiders by the score of 66-59 earlier in the season. 50 points was barely enough when the Sooners took down TCU by the score of 52-46.

Both of these teams are scoring machines, which means the scorekeeper could be rather busy in this contest.

Let’s give the edge to Oklahoma, though. Not only will the Sooners be playing at home, but they are also riding an impressive six-game winning streak, and Mayfield is on fire — to say the least.

Regardless, if both quarterbacks come ready to play, and the defenses take a backseat, we could be in store for one heck of a show — well, if you are a fan of high-scoring affairs, that is.

Nonetheless, bold predictions is the name of the game, and this prediction has bold written all over it.
