The Top 10 Best, Highly-Rated Thriller And Horror Movies On Netflix For November, 2016

Some of the best, high-quality thriller and horror movies can be found on Netflix during November, 2016. For those that are in the mood for suspense, but not in the mood for the excessive gore that horror movies provide, Netflix has plenty of options as well. The movies that made the list are based on ratings from Rotten Tomatoes; if a title isn’t “fresh,” then it didn’t make the list.

Wes Craven’s New Nightmare

This is one of the most critically-acclaimed additions to the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. Some fans weren’t fond of Freddy Krueger’s new look, but others found it refreshing that the legendary Wes Craven found new ways to reinvent the story.

Housebound

The “ghost story” subgenre of horror has grown stale, but this witty film breathed new life into it. As clever as it is tense, this is one of the best horror movies on Netflix. The film does a great job by making the audience laugh out loud during one scene, then suddenly delivering fright in the next.

I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House

Though many critics appreciated this Netflix original, many subscribers reportedly found it somewhat disappointing. If you go into this movie expecting a jump-scare horror flick, then you will be disappointed. But if you are in the mood for a slow-burn ghost story, that’s as artistic as it is well told, then you will enjoy this film.

Hush

Often regarded as one of the best horror movies of 2016, this film is absolutely suspenseful and horrifying. Though it is not a Netflix original movie, the company picked up the exclusive distribution rights to the film. This title is perfect for those in the mood for cat-and-mouse tension.

Cujo

In one of the many movies that were based on the stories from Stephen King, Cujo was one of the most popular titles during the ’80s. Some classic movies lose their appeal over time — this one does not. It’s as suspenseful now as it was during its initial release.

Curse of Chucky

The Child’s Play franchise originally started off focused on delivering genuine scares, but then it made a shift to comedy. The Curse of Chucky marks the return to horror for the franchise, and it is one of the most suspenseful additions.

Cold in July

This is one of the best movies on Netflix that features twists and turns in the plot. Filled with mystery and suspense, Michael C. Hall and Don Johnson deliver exceptional performances.

Exam

This is one of the most overlooked movies on Netflix, and that’s unfortunate because it’s an intriguing story that’s worth viewing. This is also a great watch for those not in the mood for excessive gore.

The Babadook

This film has remained one of the most popular movies on Netflix since it arrived. The Babadook delivers true terror rather than relying on cheap tricks to make the audience jump.

The Guest

The suspense and intrigue builds throughout this movie to a thrilling climax. The Guest received a 90 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and the site describes why this is one of the best movies on Netflix.

“From the director of YOU’RE NEXT and featuring a standout, bad*** performance from Dan Stevens (“Downton Abbey”), comes THE GUEST: a tense, action-packed and unpredictable film like everything and nothing you’ve ever seen before.”

Chances are, if you liked You’re Next then you will enjoy this movie that has the same stylistic approach to storytelling.
