Marvel Studios ‘Inhumans’ Movie Update By Kevin Feige, An MCU Phase 4 Possibility?

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave an update regarding an Inhumans movie. In May, Feige announced during an Empire Film Podcast that the flick is still in the minds of Marvel, but not in phase three. He acknowledged an already full phase at that point, but they still do love the Inhumans characters. They just didn’t want to cram it all in that phase.

“The only situation right now is that [Inhumans] is not gonna be a part of phase three because phase three increased in a very good way since we initially announced. When and where and how it pops up remains to be seen but its characters we love, it a storyline we love and we just didn’t want to cram it in to an already quite full phase three.”

Back in April of this year, it was made official that the Inhumans movie was taken off the Marvel Studios schedule of future projects, according to Collider.

Now, Feige came to light a recent update, but this time mentions phase four, according to Inverse. The year 2020 marks phase four, and so far, three untitled Marvel movies are slated. Those dates are set for May 1, July 10, and Nov. 6, all of which are marked for 2020.

“I think Inhumans will happen for sure. I don’t know when. I think it’s happening on television. And I think as we get into Phase 4 as I’ve always said, it could happen as a movie. I think it would be super cool.”

Interest in the Inhumans reached a new high during a reprisal in the comic books. There’s a marked interest in Ms. Marvel, as portrayed by Kamala Khan, since the Inhuman comic book event story called Inhumanity gave the young muslim hero Inhuman powers. Ms. Marvel suffered fallout at the beginning of her story. In comparison to the live-action ABC’s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Skye, played by Chloe Bennet, aka Quake, had even more turmoil as she evolved into an Inhuman.

There are also the notable classic Inhumans, Karnak, Black Bolt, Medusa, and the rest of the Inhumans royalty, as well. Do you think they’ll have prominence on the big screen during phase four?

An Inhumans movie would be interesting and it would be intriguing to see how it would translate. They are a race of genetically-altered humans that had been created by the Kree. Ronan the Accuser is one of the more significant Kree in the cinematic universe, as he was the villain in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but was taken out at the movie’s climax.

The Inhumans were creations by the Kree to take out the Skrulls, but the Kree set aside their experiments leaving the Inhumans to inhabit the Blue Side of the Moon. They have existed for quite a long time, but have only recently joined up with the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four.

The X-Men and Fantastic Four are characters that Marvel Studios does not have access to, but considering Feige and Marvel Studios pulled off using Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, do you think he’ll also create a collaboration with 20th Century Fox?

Just last month, Feige gave his take on that, but it was only in passing. Collider attempted to liken the two studios’ dealings to that of a frozen tundra.

“Well, it’s the same as it has always been. I don’t want to attribute it as a frozen wasteland or anything like that.”

That being said, do you think by 2020, Marvel phase four will have something “thawed out” between the two for the lack of a better metaphor? How do you see the Inhumans movie translating to the big screen?
