The Awesome Reason Chris Hemsworth And Other Hollywood Hunks Are Embracing Nail Polish

Chris Hemsworth challenged fellow actors Zac Efron and Robert Downey Jr. to paint their nails, according to the Daily Mail. By painting one nail and uploading the snap on social media, men support the end of violence against children.

Chris Hemsworth challenged Zac Efron and Robert Downey Jr. to take part in the charitable challenge, which was set by The Polished Man charity. The 33-year-old Thor star took to Instagram to share a photo of his painted nail, something that some of his less-than-enlightened followers in the comments said was a “gay” thing to do.

So does this mean that Chris Hemsworth is turning Efron and the Iron Man actor into “gays” now that he is challenging them to paint their nails as well? Judging by that logic, it appears so. Luckily, the majority of the comments on Chris Hemsworth’s Instagram post were positive and supportive.

In that Instagram photo, the bearded Chris Hemsworth is posing against a blue wall with his left hand outstretched to reveal his newly-red-painted nail. In the caption, the Thor actor said he did it as a way to say no to violence against children.

“That’s why this October I’m painting my nail and asking you to donate to help the 1 in 5 kids globally who are subjected to physical or sexual violence before they turn 18.”

At the end of the caption, Chris Hemsworth added that he challenges Zac Efron, The Avengers co-star Robert Downey Jr., his brother Liam Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, and his Thor co-star Tom Hiddleston to “become a polished man” to put an end to violence against children.

Efron and brother Liam have already reacted to Chris Hemsworth’s request to become “polished men” and shared snaps of themselves with their index finger painted via social media. The Neighbors actor is seen with his index finger painted in a blood orange-toned polish, while Liam opted for a fluorescent green polish to pose for the charity photo.

In other news, Chris Hemsworth had recently revealed that his wife had to “put up” with his mood swings when he was on a strict diet for his role in Heart of the Sea, according to People magazine. The 33-year-old actor dropped about 33 pounds in less than a month for the part.

It was an exhaustingly strict diet, as Chris Hemsworth had to eat only 500 calories a day. By contrast, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reportedly consumes about 8,000 calories per day to maintain his muscular physique.

In his interview with People magazine, Chris Hemsworth revealed that his wife Elsa Pataky suffered even more than he did, as she had to put up with his constant mood swings.

“She had to put up with my moods, unfortunately. She’s great. I’d kind of done it before in Rush but not to this extreme. By the end of it, she was happy for me to start eating again.”

In fact, Chris Hemsworth’s wife was so happy then went to an Italian restaurant where the Thor actor treated himself to all kinds of delicacies there, including alcohol, which the actor himself calls “a wrong thing.”

“It gave me a bit of a food hangover to honest with you. I hadn’t eaten anything like that for a while.”

Director of Heart of the Sea, Ron Howard, previously shared with Playboy magazine that Chris Hemsworth had done a great job at losing so much weight for the film. The director added that he was “careful” in the interview process to be clear about his expectations.

But he didn’t need to worry about it because Chris Hemsworth was very committed to the extreme weight loss and was very disciplined.
