Nicki Minaj Calls Sharon Osbourne ‘Hypocrite,’ Says ‘Strong Women In Inner Cities Go Unnoticed’

Nicki Minaj complains that black women are suffering from the violence against black men in the United States, according to the Fader. The 33-year-old “Super Bass” singer discussed double standards in the entertainment industry and revealed what it’s like to be competing with male rappers.

In her interview with Marie Claire, Nicki Minaj, who featured on the magazine’s November cover, criticized Sharon Osbourne for having double standards. Osbourne has previously condemned Minaj’s “Anaconda” nudity artwork, and the singer apparently still holds a grudge.

So now Nicki Minaj says Osbourne is a “hypocrite,” because when Kim Kardashian posted her naked photo, Osbourne praised it.

“So it wasn’t trashy and raunchy when a white woman did it, but it was when a black woman did it? It’s quite pathetic and sad, but that is my reality, and I’ve gotten accustomed to just shutting it down.”

Nicki Minaj also had a few things to say about the violence against black people in the United States, which has only worsened over the past years. The singer stated that people seem to forget about the emotional burden this violence puts on black women.

Because black women, who have their husbands or boyfriends killed on the streets, don’t know how to explain to their children where their father is. Nicki Minaj also said it’s quite difficult for black women to move on after they lose their loved ones as a result of police violence.

“The strong women in these inner cities often go unnoticed… no one really ever puts a hand out to them.”

In the same interview with the magazine, Nicki Minaj argued that for the young women of the 21st century “marrying into money” is “a big thing now,” according to Marie Claire. The “Anaconda” singer added that this is the wrong kind of goal in a woman’s life and instead women should focus on becoming a wealthy and “career-driven” woman.

Nicki Minaj said that no woman in this world should let her man feel that she needs him to survive, because, according to the singer, who’s currently dating rapper Meek Mill, when a man feels that his woman needs him, he “acts differently.”

Without elaborating on what this “different” behavior means, Nicki Minaj moved on to discuss what it’s like competing with male counterparts in the rap game. The rapper revealed that Jay Z has always inspired her because he found success in rap and channeled it into his own business empire.

So Nicki Minaj started wondering why there aren’t more women with a similar story to Jay Z’s. And that inspired her even more, as she felt like “if Jay Z can do it, I can do it too.”

Nicki Minaj also shared her thoughts about her collaboration with Beyoncé. Saying that every time she and Queen Bey collaborate, it inspires women around the world, but the rapper insists that it “has nothing to do with how we look.”

Instead, Nicki Minaj believes that the popularity of her songs with Beyoncé has everything to do with how she and the “Formation” singer are owning who they are and inspiring other women to be “the boss” of their own careers and “the brains” behind their lives.

“I just love that feeling.”

The last time Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé collaborated was to record their hit song “Feeling Myself” last year. The music video for the song, which peaked at No. 39 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, was featured in the list of the 10 best music videos of the first half of 2015.
